Those who drop and cover will probably survive. But ... what if I get hit by an especially large asteroid?

If global warming doesn’t kill us all, a meteor will.

For extra protection you should get under a 1950’s style school desk.

Don't forget the heavy sweater to put over your head while you're hiding under that desk!

The only thing that they didn’t tell us — Once under the desk, after you’ve tucked your head between your legs, kiss your a$$ goodbye. We figured out that last part for ourselves even as grade schoolers.
Living ten or so miles from the Philadelphia Navy Yard, we knew that if it hit the fan, we’d be getting our very own big turd.

A quick check of the NASA link reveals that the asteroid will be approaching Earth in about 100 years. Anybody here planning on being around then?

Duck and cover is not real effective against a half mile wide asteroid.

Reconcile the headline with this fact:
The asteroid is still 27 million miles away from Earth, and wont get here for another hundred years at least.
