HB744 will prevent discrimination on the basis “race, religion or sexual orientation” in any “…activity receiving state or county financial assistance or utilizing state or county facilities.”
Activities that constitute discrimination include: exclusion “from participation in, be(ing) denied the benefits of, or be(ing) subjected to discrimination”.
Using this broad language, any church or religious organization holding services at a state or county facility (such as a public school cafeteria or auditorium) could not deny services or benefits associated with their organization. This could include participation in services, membership to the religious organization or even the sanctioning of a same-sex marriage.
Any religious organization not in compliance with HB744 would be subject to an “action”. Due to the vague language, the arbiter of this action would be the Hawaii Civil Rights Commission whose actions continue to erode religious freedoms. Any choice between a person’s religious beliefs and a place to worship is no choice at all.

How many churches like this have closed because I have lost count.
As mentioned in related cases in NM and OR, the states have amended the Constitution to expressly protect religious expression, but not so-called gay rights. So NM, OR, and now HI are examples of states who have violated Section 1 of the 14th Amendment, imo, by making laws which go too far in abridiging a constitutionally enumerated right.
Sadly, the reason that Christians are victims of these misguided state laws is because Christian parents evidently haven’t been making sure that their children are taught how the Constitution protects their rights.

The Catholic Church found out what it was like to have queers in their ranks. Sin has the effect of twisting ones thinking so they will choose to do something even when they know the bad consequences. And, they will encourage the same mindlessness with others. They will work to suppress the truth that their bad actions will create; and drag as many others into their perversions with them.
God has created what is the natural state of mankind’s existence. We call it Natural Law. We have a full attack on Natural Law by bullies with legal teams to tear down God’s design for mankind. Natural Law is the basis of our Constitution. That tells me that there are evil forces working to destroy our Constitution and are using man’s sinful nature like a battering ram to do so.
The morality that has come from our Judeo-Christian legacy over two thousand years ago, is being rooted out of our culture by a small group who get their thrills paying expensive lawyers to attack Christians. It has become common knowledge by these groups that, with enough money, you can use the legal system to do anything you want.
Everything that is not completely cordoned off from public view or is even tangentially associated with the public is now a “public accommodation” that the sodomites can wield with full authority. This is by design.

While the current standards would be using public property, we can all see the camel’s nose that would lead to ‘tax benefits’ and the current exemption for religious activities. This is, IMHO, an ultimate goal of the organized Atheists and the organized LGBT(whatever) movements.
To the modern progressive leftist, the goal is that no one should have any risk of being offended by anything that is not leftist approved. Naked gay parades are good and show tolerance, TEA Party assemblages are bad because they demonstrate intolerance, obviously!
You can coexist with open homosexuality as well as you can co-exist with Islam - that is, not at all.
The iRS will start yanking the tax-exempt status of any church not allowing homosexual “marriages.”

I have said it and it sounds funny although it is actually very scary how far this has gone in the past decade or two. It is not all right to ignore it, lord forbid you speak against it. You must openly accept and embrace sodomy and that is downright unbelievable
IRS needs to be put out of business. Replace them with a flat sales tax.
