MYRTLE BEACHRep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) called on grassroots conservatives and Tea Partiers across the country to organize and fight back against the GOP establishments efforts to stamp out the movement during his speech to the South Carolina Tea Party Convention here on Sunday morning.
Gohmert argued that conservatives need a ground game and an organized strategy to stop House Speaker John Boehner, Karl Rove, and the Chamber of Commerce from destroying the Tea Party movement. He rendered a lengthy quote from the infamous scene in the classic movie Animal House, where Bluto riles up the fraternity to fight back against the administration when things seemed darkest for them.
So, a big national organization of corporations has declared war on us, Gohmert said.
So, some guy with a whiteboard has declared war on us. So, the Speaker may have declared war on us. Let me borrow from Animal House: "Whats all this laying around stuff? Why would anyone just lay around when our liberty, lives and loves are on the line? Did someone say let it go? The wars over? What? Over? Did someone say over? No. Its not over until we decide its over. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? No! Well it aint over now! Because when the going gets tough, the tough get going!" What happened to the Tea Party I used to know? Wheres the spirit? Wheres the guts? This could be the greatest time of our lives but youre going to let it be the worst because were afraid to go with Louie. We might get in trouble. Just kiss my aspen tree. From now on, not me, Im not going to take it. Were not going to take it anymore right? Were going to stand up and take our country back!(continued)

The Germans didn’t bomb Pearl Harbor, the Japaneses did.
But its not over and the so called republicans that would try to stamp us out will stamp only themselves out without us.
The TEA party is not an institution its an idea, and ideas can’t be killed so long as there is a heart to believe and follow them. Or in this case a budgetary reality that can’t be ignored.
The true is most of us knew in the end Washington can’t be made to control itself just as it never has been made to do so in it’s 200+ year history.
We are going to have to find and implement other ways to protect ourselfs and our posterity from the effects of it’s madness.
Lou likes to talk. He knows that works with too many.
Where was he a year ago when it was time to elect a House Speaker? to replace Bohner as Speaker?
He didn’t step up himself. He was hiding from that.
My memory isn’t what it used to be, but I think Gohmert did nominate someone else for speaker.
What his ultimate vote was I can’t recall.
Gohmert probably should have run against Cornyn
I believe Gohmert voted for Allen West in 2013 for Speaker of the House.
BUMP!
He voted for someone who wasn't running for Speaker (only Bohner and Pelois were), in fact who isn't even in the House this session. It was a meaningless symbolic vote.
What Lou Gohmert didn't do was step up and run for Speaker himself. No fun in that job. Better to make his safe, symbolic and meaningless votes. He gets cheered for that.

Defeatism rears its head yet again. Louie Gohmert was among the hardcore who voted against Boehner.
If you look at the Republicans who voted against Boehner (even though he had enough to win) you’ll see among those hardcore conservatives the names of a number of folks contending for nomination for Senate in the Republican primary in 2014.
Folks, let’s have some courage. Let’s not allow ourselves to be discouraged by the defeatists (and possible fifth columnists) among us—particularly when 2014 holds such promise for Tea Party candidates.
> No one will take Boners job, call your favorite pet house hero and ask him to run against him as speaker, I dare you. He will never return the call.

You should challenge them (your favorite house members) to oppose him as Speaker by running for it themselves now , this losing and then scape-goating whining stuff is long past old.

????
You won't get that from Lou.
Looks like he's trying to imitate Braveheart movie speech.
Auditioning for his own talk radio show??
Gee, for someone who apparently tries to claim he’s “sickoflibs” you spend as much, or more, time attacking Tea Party Republicans as Karl Rove, the GOPe and Democrats do.
” - - - Boehner won with 220 votes six more than the 214 votes he needed. (A speaker needs only a majority of the actual votes cast, not of all members of the House. And here’s the roll call.)
Below is a look at the defectors, whom they voted for, and our best guess as to why it wasn’t Boehner:
***Rep. Eric Cantor (3 votes)
Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-Okla.) conservative freshman who defeated Rep. John Sullivan (R-Okla.) in a primary
Rep. Steve Pearce (R-N.M.) very conservative
Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) conservative freshman who defeated Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) in a primary
***Former congressman Allen West (2)
Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.) noted conservative maverick, Club for Growth favorite
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Tex.) outspoken conservative
***Rep. Raul Labrador (1)
Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) libertarian ally of former congressman Ron Paul (R-Tex.), recently stripped of committee assignments by House GOP leadership
***Rep. Jim Jordan (1)
Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.) very conservative, recently stripped of committee assignments
***Former comptroller general David Walker (1)
Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.) frequently votes against his party, recently stripped of committee assignments
***Amash (1)
Rep. Tom Massie (R-Ky.) freshman conservative, favorite of the Club for Growth
***Voting present (1)
Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Tex.) has criticized Boehner for “being too harsh with conservatives”
***Not voting (3)
Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho) conservative, frequent critic of Boehner
Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.) critic of Boehner’s “Plan B” maneuver on the “fiscal cliff”
Boehner speaker traditionally does not vote for himself or herself - - - - “

BTW one does not have to be a Member of the House to be elected speaker of the House.
I love Louie.
Lou's got a nice comfortable job making his symbolic votes and getting cheered by his small district.
He wouldn't want the headaches of actually doing something.
He is just repeating what he heard on talk radio.
He knows that works with too many.
BTW, one has to vote for someone who is actually running to be serious, or it's the same as not voting at all. They might as well have written in Ronald Reagan.

Publically opposing the Speaker’s reelection is not a gutless move LOL!
What? You need to declare yourself TOTALLY ignorant of politics in the House?
