Hoboken Mayor: 'It's True' Christie Administration Withheld Sandy Funds By Leigh Ann Caldwell, Chris Frates and Cassie Spodak, CNN
Zimmer tells CNN that Christie played politics with Sandy recovery funds Christie team denies funds were held hostage for backing of redevelopment project
(CNN) -- In another controversy surrounding New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer said Sunday that Christie directly ordered the withholding of Superstorm Sandy recovery funds unless she backed a redevelopment plan he favored.
Appearing on CNN's "State of the Union," Zimmer said she was told by a member of Christie's administration that Sandy relief funds hinged on her support for a real estate development project and that the directive was coming directly from Christie.
"She said that to me -- is that this is a direct message from the Governor," Zimmer said, referring to Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, who Zimmer said approached her in a parking lot in May to deliver the message. It's "stunning" and "outrageous," but true, the Hoboken mayor told CNN's Candy Crowley. "I stand by my word."

Time will tell.
Christie’s “friends” turn on him. This is what usually happens when you deal with commie libs and think that they are your “friends”.
It seems obvious to this poster that Christie is catching a lot of flack from both sides.
Can’t Republicans lay off?
I don’t support him, but I think he’s being singled out for purely political reasons.
Lay off Christie. At least until the real race.
Obama has withheld permission to dig a 50 foot long ditch in North Dakota for the XL Pipeline for years.
Christie is finished.
Something has the lefties moving up the timeline on Crispy Creme.
The Democrats got spooked by Christie, and jumped the gun with their character assassination. Now they run the risk of getting a capable conservative at the head of the Republican ticket.
Christie is about to learn a very important lesson, when you lay down with Commie libs, your gonna get an STD
One could only hope.
"Zimmer requested $127 million for Hoboken but said she only received $200,000 in recovery grants, plus $142,000 for a backup generator. The state had about $300 million to disburse statewide."
With a city that has a population of 50K and has a little more than 1 square mile of land area, she expected to receive 42% of the available funds? Seriously?
As Rudy Giuliani said today -- this is a witch hunt.
The Fat Man is done! Stick a fork in him. Time to weed the party of such folks. Like McCain who thought the MSM were his friends-—the Liberals know their enemies—just look at whom they heap scorn upon and try to destroy? can you say—Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin? Christie thought he could work with them—he was wrong! No Liberal is a friend — they do not know the meaning of the word—they will toss their own under the Bus! The FatMan was a fool—thats all.
I already know the answer. Just wanted to voice the question for posterity sake.
yeah, Christie has declared war on MSNBC, even...
I’d like to see if this Hoboken thing is true or not before I either lay on or lay off.
I find his weight disgusting. Saying he likes to eat is not an excuse.
That little red button poking out of his chest means he’s done. Take the fat turkey out of the oven already!
I don’t like Christie. As far as I am concerned he’s just one more RINO that needs to go.
That being said, he should be removed by Republican voters, not Democrat/Leftist sycophantic news media players and democrat hit-men.
If you want to throw up dirt on a politician, you can do so with any person you want. There are a myriad of things that go on in states that you can target, demonize, and slander a politician over.
How a governor disburses funds after a national disaster varies from event to event. There are many projects, and not all of them are going to make sense to the governor. Mayors and governors disagree all the time. If a governor has a plan he’s in favor of, why shouldn’t he push for that plan? Why shouldn’t he put the damper on other plans?
You know folks, I don’t care for Christie one bit, but I’ll be damned if I’ll play along with Democrats who are trying to take the man down over nonsensical charges.
F Democrats. F the press. I’ve seen this dog and pony show so many times, it’s just laughable.
Why do folks buy into this nonsense? Since when does the media or the Democrats actually care about crime, or doing something off-color?
Man, you have got to ask yourself what is wrong with this picture, when the Democrats claim to be going after a guy based on law and order. Really? That really challenges credibility.
What’s more, we all know it.
That is a great post!
Thanks Berdie... I appreciate it.
LOL - you know Hillary is behind this attack on Christie, right?
I know Christie. This is all BS. I wouldn’t want him for POTUS (Cruz, Paul, Perry, Walker, and West are my top 5) but this in nonsense. Christie is as pristine a politician you will find. They are taking our top players out of the lineup. Sure, they are doing us a favor by getting Christie out of the way, but they are sending a message to our eventual nominee.
Zimmer better have solid evidence of that or she’s toast.
Images of journal entries - there needs to be some forensics done on the hard copies... very convenient that she mentions she usually likes to type on her computer in this, her first handwritten journal entry, that just happens to deal with Christie...
I’ll keep saying it. Walker has the same union busting credentials and his states running a surplus. Plus he carrying Wisconsin is a better chance than Christie carrying NJ in a national election.
Libs have no credibility. I’d still like to see him clean enough to run as a Dem which is where he belongs. His attacks on Hillary would be epic.
“Zimmer better have solid evidence of that or shes toast.”
If Zimmer had real evidence she would have provided to Barbara Buono. She has none and that is why Buono got trounced by double digits.
How can any reasonable person scream about this Hoboken crap? This is exactly the same thing as when Obama promised taxpayer funds — “the cornhusker kickback” and “the Louisiana purchase” a couple of years ago — for votes on his Obamacare. No different than supporting a redevelopment project for funds. It’s called politics.
Obama has been completely given free reign, for now over five years.
Now our media has suddenly found something to “investigate”.
I don’t support Christie for president, but we really, really need to lay off.
That is all I’m saying.
If there's a valid complaint about Christie corruption, then OK go after him.
But these are silly charges and conservatives should NOT pile on when the case is made up of lies. Just because they don't like the guy is no reason to participate in MSM commie lies, especially when the motive is to get the focus off Obamacare.
(CNN) — In another controversy surrounding New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer said Sunday that Christie directly ordered the withholding of Superstorm Sandy recovery funds >>>
one of the reason why taxation is evil, it gives politicians way too much power...whether in this case it’s true or not, this happens every day, with pay to play, lobbyists, and the trillions that goes through their greedy, power-hungry hands...
Christie’s liberal “friends” have really turned on him quickly.
Well, we always knew the second a politician’s name ended in “(R)” the press would wake up.
This story is not smelling right. There’s a post upthread that says the Mayor of Hoboken was demanding 40% of the entire state’s grant for Sandy relief, and the scuffle is over the amount allocated to Hoboken.
And as long as it is on the up and up, that’s the game as it is normally played.
Actually I am sort of with you, republicans need to sit down and shut up on this one. But...they won’t.
I noted in 2011 that potentials candidates were ripped apart before they ever had a chance. Not by the democrats really, but by our own.
Oddly I pondered ...do we seek our own messiah? Must our candidate be perfection? Can any mere mortal human being meet our inflated standards?
What character flaws are we willing to overlook...to have a decent president? Yes, yes, and yes...this is not a defense of Christie, but an observation as we begin vetting our own. 0bama became President compliments of a compliant media unwilling to look into his very basic past history. To this very day we have no authentic birth certificate, no college grades, and heck no fellow classmates even dare speak of knowing him back then? But wait, was it really the compliance of the media that failed to vet him or was it the democrat party itself?
On the flipside we have a republican party that will tear into the tiniest of details of a man’s life. And they we complain when we end up with RINO candidates.
Yes indeed look to the content of Christie’s character and if the allegations prove true, he is not fit for the office of President, and he may not be fit for his current office either.
I don’t think she has it either. Something she wrote down isn’t going to cut it.
