January 19, 2014 Three Gay Republicans Trying To Make Election History
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Dan Innis' husband persuaded him to run for the U.S. House.
It didn't matter that Innis, a former business school dean, faced an aggressive Democratic incumbent, GOP colleagues who oppose his right to marry, and history — no Republican ever has been openly gay when first elected to Congress.
"He said, 'You've got to do this,'" recalls Innis, running in the 1st Congressional District, which covers most of eastern New Hampshire. "He said, 'You need to take this opportunity and see if you can make a difference.'"
Innis plays down his sexuality as a campaign issue, but acknowledges the historic undertones. He is among three openly gay Republicans nationwide expected to run in this year's midterm elections. None has an easy path to Washington.
Each ultimately must unseat a Democratic incumbent, overcome brushes with hate and confront passionate divisions within the GOP about the way they live their lives. The Republican Party is trying to soften its tone on divisive social issues, but many religious conservatives see homosexuality as immoral.
Innis is married to a man, as is former state Sen. Richard Tisei, R-Mass., who is expected to run again for the northeastern Massachusetts congressional seat he narrowly lost in 2012 to Democratic Rep. John Tierney.
In San Diego, former Republican city councilman Carl DeMaio is challenging first-term Democratic Rep. Scott Peters.
"You can't focus on any of the nasty comments or attacks — not just from far right, also from far left," DeMaio says.

Did you know that humans and rats share 99% of the same DNA? Does that make humans, rodents as well? Of course not. Gay Republicans share the same political view on all issues except for one.
The left of center Republicans accepted Gay Republicans as part of the party because it helped increase membership and the power and influence that comes with it. But the cop-out was a "Faustian Bargain" where in essence it was having made a pact with the Devil.
At the end of the day, it is this one issue that maintains the difference between Gay Republicans and normal heterosexual Republicans as that of humans and rats.

No, he did not - in order for Dan Innis to have a husband, he would have to be a wife - by very definition. Since he's a man, that's not possible.
Innis will be handily defeated in the primary ... He is inconsequential.
Only the left would think he is a big deal.
I hope he is “happy”.
This articles only talks about the “openly gay Republicans” facing a tough contest against their “Democrat opponents in the fall”. I guess the writer forgot we have a thing called GOP primaries that they have to get through first. Hopefully none of these guys will be nominated.
Oh, they’ve tried. When I first got back to Iowa after leaving the service in the 80’s they were trying to get a gay man nominated for congress.

Contrast DeMaio with one of his primary opponents ...

Yeah, promoting Romney wasn’t any indication of that possibility.
It’s not just the GOP. The Dems have been headed this direction for sometime.
Dan Innis doesn’t have a husband in spite of what CBS, New Hampshire or any other human being says. Dan Innis will one day stand before God and then he can try to explain how he says he has a “husband.”
Boehner needs to go.
NH-1: I heard Frank Guinta was fairly low-key and establishment, but he probably looks like Jesse Helms next to his RINO primary opponent. At least Guinta is solidly pro-life and pro-traditional marriage. No doubt the media will be touting the RINO, but we should win this primary fairly easily given Guinta’s name ID.
MA-6: It looks like Richard Tisei is unopposed in the primary, so we’re probably stuck with him. Of course, even if 2014 turns out to be a great year for the GOP,
I expect the RATs will sweep Mass. like they did last time, and this “electable” RINO will lose to the RAT again. If I was in Mass., I’d run a write-in campaign
against Tisei just so actual Republicans can cast a token protest vote.
CA-52: This might be a tricky one. Both Kirk Jorgensen and Fred Simon sound like pretty decent conservatives, hopefully primary voters will agree on one of them and they won’t split the vote so DeMaio squeaks by.
Overall, despite the fact the media would love having an openly gay Republican” in Congress just to rub it in our faces (didn’t we already have that with Jim Kolbe? Must not have been “groundbreaking” because he was “outed’ after being elected or something), I’d say the odds of it happening in 2014 are pretty slim. Even slimmer is the chance that ANY of these three “openly gay” candidates actually turn out to be good solid conservatives who only disagree with the GOP base on “one issue”.
But hey, all the “consevatives” who scream that EVERYONE over the age of 30 who is unmarried MUST be “secretly gay” and needs to come out and publicly showcase it (just as the left ALSO demands) can be proud that these three guys have taken their advice. Puke.
