Wendy Davis, the Democratic candidate for governor of Texas, has admitted that a number of key details in her public personal narrative do not match up with the reality of the facts.
The Texas state senator who rose to national fame for her successful 13-hour filibuster against new abortion restrictions, acknowledged to The Dallas Morning News that there are some chronological errors and incomplete details in what she and her advisers have said about her life.
"My language should be tighter," she told the paper. "I'm learning about using broader, looser language. I need to be more focused on the detail."
Davis, who is running against Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott for the governorship, has repeatedly touted a personal story of having been a divorced teenage mother who lived in a trailer but ultimately fought her way to Harvard Law School.
She has pointed to her narrative as a testament to hard work and the American Dream, and her campaign has heavily relied on it to build support and boost fundraising.
It has now emerged that she was divorced at the age of 21, despite her claims during a recent hearing under oath that she was 19. Also, she lived only briefly in the family mobile home after she separated from her first husband before moving into an apartment with her daughter.
Meanwhile, her website says, "With the help of academic scholarships and student loans, Wendy not only became the first person in her family to earn a bachelor's degree but graduated first in her class and was accepted to Harvard Law School."
The paper points out that she has neglected to disclose that her second husband paid for the second two years of her undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University,

Was Thomas Edison defined by his many dead-ends in his lab rather than his successful creation of the light bulb?
He babbling is stupid.
Just another lib liar. Caught like a Rat in a trap. Not dead yet, but with time it will happen.
Stick a fork in abortion barbie. She’s done.
“My language should be tighter,” she told the paper. “I’m learning about using broader, looser language. I need to be more focused on the detail.”
A spoiled rich white girl who lies - that’s the modern Democrat party. :)
Are you kidding? The lamestream media will cover for her all day.
Look at the lies bammy has told and not one bit of accountability has been hung around his neck.
If commie ‘RAT libs didn’t lie, they’d never get elected. Lies are all they have.
I suspect she took some additional courses at the Clinton Crime Family school of language parsing....
My language should be tighter? Perhaps she confuses syntax with anatomy?
I have absolutely zero doubt in my mind she is going down in flames against Abbott. She won’t be heard from again after that, and maybe we can deport those Castro twins back to whatever hellhole they came from.
Still, good to divert some leftist money away from senate candidates and such.
But to the low info voter she appeals to they won’t give a rat’s hair. Lying has become a virtue.
The kind of person who would vote for her in the first place won’t care that she is a liar and perjuror. She was a long shot to win regardless but lets not kid ourselves about what we are up against. We face a democrat electorate that doesn’t care about honesty, or honor, or even criminality as long their guy a)furthers the leftist cause and b)keeps giving free stuff to people who won’t work.
‘looser language’ — isn’t that so those nasty FACTS don’t get in the way? She’s a perfect lib.
When Obama lies it is said he misspoke. This liberal liar needs to “tighten her language”? Orwell’s Newspeak need updating.
No, your language should be truthful.
Just getting that whole word composition abed meaning thing down. What is she, in the 6th grade?
6th graders are smarter.
She figures that if a false narrative helped get the usurper-in-chief elected president, twice, then it should help propel her into the governorship of Texas. Lying liberal logic. Might just work if she could bus in some liberal voters from the left coast, northeast coast and a few other hotbeds of liberalism spread across this country. Better still, she should just go to one of the liberal hotbeds.
All crap like this (and much worse) merely enhances the resume and reputation of a lib.
Said the Harvard Law School grad. Humph....
Abortion Barbie sez: “Telling the whole truth is HARD.”
You can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can’t take the trailer trash out of the girl.
She left the day after he made the final loan payment on Law School. She also left the two kids with him and he GOT custody. Crack mothers don’t lose custody.
I hope so. I can’t stand her smugness. Abbot does not seem like a guy who can win in Texas though. I have heard a lot of negative comments about him and these are from conservatives. Anyway to get someone else to run?
She's 50 and a lawyer. A little too late to learn other than "the hard way".
someone needs to stop pulling the strings...
You need to realize the context in which these statements were made. DAVIS intervened in a lawsuit Texas vs Holder for the voting rights ID law. Holder still thinks Texans are TOO racist and need the feds to tell us how to run elections and redistricting. Davis jumps in as a “voice for the minorities.” She is the only lawyer, the other four litigants are actually minority citizens. This makes what some think a trivial mistake about her age or where financial aid came from as something that DOES need attention. The under-oath deposition was given by HER lawyers. They intentionally want her loose language in there to garner support from the feds. She is a total loser.
The paper points out that she has neglected to disclose that her second husband paid for the second two years of her undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University, as well as the full tuition for law school, and that she divorced him the day after the last payment was made.
It has also emerged that her ex-husband accused her in initial court filings of adultery and was awarded custody of their two daughters, and also that she first ran for city council in Fort Worth as a Republican.
Another fine example of a Rat!!!
Minor correction there, he took the kids from her because of her bad “behavior”. She did not give them up.
Anybody know what HIS view of the world is?
If he’s as p!ssed as it sounds like he should be, could make some devastating campaign commercials.
Hell no! Greg Abbott is the man! He has personally taken on the EPA, the DOJ, and specifically Holder, and the UN. I think he has done more in the last two years for the state of Texas than Rick Perry!
What are the names of her daughters- Hillary and Oprah?
I get the impression she really didn’t participate a lot in the raising of either girl. Two jobs and school during the oldest...off at Harvard during the youngest.
In any case, both girls were old enough to make up their minds where they wanted to live and obviously chose their Dad. The custody issue probably came up in order for child support to be awarded...as it should have been.
I didn’t like her before. Since her “plucky little woman” narrative is pretty well exposed...I like her even less. As I have said before on another thread...if this fraud gets elected I’ll have the hissy fit to end all hissy fits.
Abbott has a proven record and done a great job for Texas. He just ain’t blonde and cute.
Too bad for her she’s not running in MA.
That is great to hear. I guess it is just that outside of Texas, we have not heard from him much. But so happy to hear that he has a good chance at winning this.
Davis filed a special motion to intervene in the lawsuit, along with four racial-minority Texans. In her motion to join the lawsuit, Davis lawyers argue that she was needed to ensure that the State of Texas does not implement redistricting plans that are the result of a process in which the interests of minority voters were not properly represented and protected. They also complain that the redistricting plan leaves seven of the eight districts in the region largely under the control of Anglo voters, despite a decreased Anglo population.
Of the five intervenors, the other four are minority citizens and voters. Davis had to explain how, although she is a white woman, she has special insight to represent minorities. Davis lawyers argued she is essential in part because she will bring a unique perspective with respect to the experience of minority voters, and because she has insight into deficiencies in the legislative process about redistricting.
Now if I was a minority I might be offended by a white woman saying she understood minorities because she was knocked up in her teens and lived in a trailer.
For liberals, perjury is not a problem; it’s their stock in trade.
