Harper feels no need to temper sugar with vinegar
Jerusalem Post ^ | 21/1/14 | Herb Keinon

Posted on 01/20/2014 11:03:48 PM PST by Eleutheria5

Like US President Barack Obama’s keynote address during his visit here in March, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s speech to the Knesset on Monday paid tribute to Israel’s values of freedom and democracy.

Like French President Francois Hollande, who addressed the Knesset in November, Harper also hailed Israel’s spirit and resilience.

What distinguished Harper’s comments was that the “honey” of his praise was not then tempered by the “vinegar” of his criticism.

In Obama and Hollande’s addresses, the listener knew that all the favorable comments made about Israel in the first parts of their speeches would be followed by some less favorable ones toward the end: criticism of Jerusalem’s policies in the West Bank and the settlements.

Those lines of criticism were not uttered by Harper.

He did not feel the need to balance his praise with criticism.

His was not a “yes, but” speech; his was a “yes, yes” speech.

True, he stressed that not all criticism of Israeli government policy is anti-Semitic, and said that no state was beyond legitimate questioning or criticism, but he refrained from cataloging that criticism. That was neither his purpose nor his aim. There are legions of others willing to do that.

He did not feel the need to balance his praise with criticism>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Lets be clear about why Harper is not critical. 50% of the federal budget goes to support Canada’s Universal Access Health Care System.

As an “almost” direct result Canada’s standing full time military is comprised of only about 100,000 men and women,
and this in a nation that has a population of 35,158,300, a surface area of 3,855,103 sq. mi. Canada’s coastline alone stretches 125,567 miles, the logest in the world, yet is has one of the smallest Navys and Coast Guards of the so called G7 nations.

Canada has traditionally relied on the USA to protect it from its enemies , it cannot do so itself, but with the treasonous Obama in the White Hut, it is clear hat the USA is abandoning its traditional allies and thet Canada could be next!

So Harper will indeed praise and not criticize. At h9is time in Canada;s history, he dies not want even one enemy
that could pose a threat to Canada’s security, mainly because at this point, Canada is defenceless. It is not business as usual.

That is why Obama is getting away with bullying Canada on the proposed Keystone pipeline project. If Canada could secure its own borders and air space, things would be going far more differently.

But Obama only has a few years left. Harper should grow a pair, and laugh at Obama. Then put the epipeline in to the Pacific, and also down east as well through St. John, and he should make a loud constant celebratory point of letting the world know.

Canada as a nation will just have to man up, and expand its military as needed. (The Canadian military was ruined by that Libtard Pierre Trudeau, and his preceding Libtard,Minister of Defence, Paul Hellyer) .

Harper needs to wax more critical in his public tone, especially when dealing with prigs like Barak Hussein Obama, or other national leaders, BUT Harper did a good job praising the Knesset, a speech that would surely vex the White Hut, a treasonous president bringing the USA no longer defacto aligned with with Isreal as an ally but desperately wanting to appear as one with public approval at 39% and sinking.

Somehow I doubt that Obama will go as far as to eat Matsa.Harper doesn’t have to.

...but desperately wanting to appear as one with public approval at 39% and sinking. stinking!

I'm looking foward to the moment when the citizens of the US realize they haven't got a friend left in the world and that Israel has better relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia than this administration has with any free nation of the world. You can count his supporters on one hand and they are all dictators of tinpot little countries in which the people live in abject fear and poverty. Egypt gave him the heave-ho when the people tossed out the muslim brotherhood, that's another country of 90 million or so who know exactly what obama is. A fanatic islamist who believes he's carrying on the work of his fanatic radical african-american father, whose ambition was to bring the US to it's knees before the World Court before he was assassinated in 1965.

This pathetic progeny and mirror image of a man who so hated America he believed (and said so openly) that what America needed was a Mau Mau style uprising, is following directly and exactly in the footsteps of the man who was the greatest disaster to race relations America ever saw until zero was elected, once by chicanery and the second time by voter-fraud.

Harper has every right to be concerned.

It is the nature of fascist countries to invade their neighbors once they have bled out all the wealth of their home country.

Indeed. And I am extremely glad to now live on the North side of the border. We may have to revisit 1812.

If one looks at the border crossing upgrades made by the Obama make work projects of 2008/2009 ( shovel ready jobs), one will see not just upgrades but constructed fortifications at even the smallest border crossings. The entire US/Canada border can be closed and fortified within 1/2 hour. No one getting out, or in, even if armed with light weight armor such as the Bradly fighting vehicle.

Obama is playing for keeps. And America/Canada does not even know.

Oh????

Yet there is nothing on our southern border.

I don't think the fortifications are to keep you out, but to keep us in.

Oddly, the border with Mexico just can’t seem to get porous enough for them. But Canada, that’s a real threat. Must stem illegal emigration./s
