The Heritage Foundation of late has been subsumed to the bare-knuckle Heritage Action, the result being a diminution in the influence and intellectual integrity of the foundation. It is therefore cause for conservative celebration that Wall Street editorial board member Stephen Moore is being brought in as the foundations chief economist. Moore is pro-growth, pro-immigration a cheery conservative warrior. If allowed free rein and I cant believe he would have taken the job unless he was assured of intellectual freedom he has the ability to restore Heritage Foundations luster and to help introduce the far right to a more affirmative agenda.
The Heritage board should go further, however. Former South Carolina senator Jim DeMint was hired, in essence, for the wrong job to head the foundation. He is, however, a right-wing brawler who founded the Senate Conservatives Fund and has led the charge for the shutdown and for purifying the GOP from the Heritage Action podium.

Moore is hired as the chief economist, and Rubin infers that he really got the top job. If wishes were horses...
If Heritage moves left on immigration and accepts amnesty...or any compromise that results in a conference bill leading to amnesty...they are finished. They already lost the entrenched DC politicos. They can’t afford to lose the base.
A Jennifer Ruben endorsemen is hardly an encouraging sign, but then she is spinning to get out in front of the story for leverage, leaning on Heritage in hopes of influencing its future direction.
Waiting to hear from DeMint.
Rubin seems to say the Heritage amnesty pimp was hired by the Board, not by DeMint.
Wonder what Heritage thinks of THIS:
snip-”The US plans to resettle 30,000 Syrian Islamists displaced by the Syrian War, according to the Wall Street Journal. Thats not the story.
The story is that it hinges on their receiving exemptions from laws aimed at preventing terrorists from entering the country.
Why have counterterrorism laws at all then? If politicians are going to ignore them when taking in refugees from a country overrun by al Qeada, then we dont need the laws. We should just let anyone come over.”

Rubin, the supposed “Post Conservative”, is an extreme RINO who supports amnesty, abortion, and tax and spend policies better than a Democrat.
Moore is part of that Wall Street Journal cabal which mocked those who fight illegal immigration.

Pray for our brave heroes.
Thx. Still interested in DeMint’s statement, if he makes one.
I'm still going to wait and here from them what their actual policy will be. I'm concerned about this news, but I'm also going to make sure it's genuinely bad news before getting angry. They may not go for amnesty as is feared, Stephen Moore has a lot of good things to say as well.
Heritage and Jim DeMint took a beating last year because of the author of that immigration study that they were citing.
I wonder if this has anything to do with that.
Whoops! Has Heritage Foundation caught that contagious bug, compremiseosis-spelunkitius?
Stephen Moore is very pro-amnesty. Pretty much right on a lot of other issues, but his pro-amnesty stance is his fatal achilles heel.
Wonder if Rush will have DeMint on the show as he did when DeMint took the job? Rush and Hannity are their top mouthpieces on talkradio but I don’t see either of them as favoring the amnesty proposal. Spin, little tops, spin....
I don’t think any of these conservative foundations survive with their ideological foundations in tact for very long.
I think as soon as they are formed, the left starts figuring out how to take it over.

By hiring a pro-amnesty toadie, Heritage has lost me. We already have immigration laws that should be enforced. Nothing more, nothing less.

Washington Post and GOPe types are more interested in having the respect of the DC/Ivy League/NYC Establishment than in getting things done or doing what’s right.
In the end, they get the same kind of respect due to the Washington Generals or Chicago Cubs.
Stephen Moore “help introduce the far right to a more affirmative agenda.”
Jim DeMint “is, however, a right-wing brawler.”
Ah, Jennifer, there you go again, you ignorant slut.
