Reputed Chicago mob boss Joseph "Joey the Clown" Lombardo's attorneys have filed court papers claiming he was abused in a North Carolina federal prison.
The 84-year-old Lombardo was sentenced to life in prison in 2009 after being convicted in the 2007 landmark Operation Family Secrets trial.
His attorneys claim he suffered from "elder abuse" when his access to mail, phone and visitors was restricted last April.

Thought this would be a story about Jesse Jackson Jr.
That's it? That's the extent of his claim? What a clown!
Maybe “Joey the Clown” wasn’t all that funny.
“His attorneys claim he suffered from “elder abuse” when his access to mail, phone and visitors was restricted last April.”
It is a prison after all.
He looks like Saddam Hussein’s younger, westernized but still crazy brother.
What kind of a loser, half-assed mobster is he anyhow? Aren’t these guys supposed to wield as much power while in prison as they do as free men? I guess that if your name ends in “... the clown” that might indicate some issues.
Lombardo earned the nickname "The Clown" from his joking nature and from various humorous incidents involving him, including grinning wide for mug shots and for departing a 1981 court appearance at the federal courts building in Chicago holding a Chicago Sun-Times newspaper in front of his face with a hole cut out so he could see. In 2005 Halprin spoke to the Chicago Tribune about his client's nickname saying, "That's a name he doesn't relish, and neither do I. The guy I know is not a clown."
he is the same as what we have in the Noor Loch-that is, Washington DC. So when do those bastards get life?
those restrictions have nothing to do with age.
That's it? That's the extent of his claim?
What else is there for someone in prison?
the warden replied to his alleged mistreatment: “this guy really IS a clown! he’s funny!”
Maybe he’s a rodeo clown and just trying to hang on for 8 seconds.
Tommy Chong???
