This was expected and anticipated. In fact the re-surgence of terrorist organizations was the key argument the US made to the Iraqis for retaining bases.

I actually prefer this to us being there. If we were there the Iraqis would -still- be blaming us for everything. Now they have to buck-up themselves. IMO within 2 years they’ll be inviting us back with a better deal than we proposed before leaving.

The current Al-queada conflict fits the Sunni vs. Shia power struggle in the country. This will be a good, tough fight for the Iraqis and it will strengthen their nation.

You were there, so you should know. Whatever happened to Allegra? I don’t see her around here anymore. Would have liked her POV as well.

I heard Allegra was banned for bad-mouthing FR or something.

She came through my base once and I spoke to her via cell phone but we never met.
