Harry Reid on the hot seat: Ethics probe demanded by watchdog group

A conservative-leaning watchdog group has filed an ethics complaint against Senate Majority leader Harry Reid, accusing him of violating the chamber’s code of conduct by pushing to help a politically connected Las Vegas casino project get visas for foreign investors.

The complaint, filed with the Senate Select Committee on Ethics by Cause of Action, is based in part on a Washington Times investigation last year. That investigation found that after pressure from Mr. Reid and his staff, the Obama administration overruled career Homeland Security officials and expedited visa applications for about two dozen foreign investors for the casino....

...The American people deserve better,” wrote Daniel Z. Epstein, executive director of Cause of Action. “It is unfair for politicians to attempt to influence the enforcement of our laws, especially when they — or their close family members — stand to benefit.”...

Perhaps it's all rooted in Irritable Bowel Syndrome, as Reid once asked General Gates to investigate it.

............“With all the major issues we had to deal with, my personal contacts with Senate Majority Leader Reid were often in response to his calls about Air Force objections to construction of a windmill farm in Nevada because of the impact on their radars,” Gates wrote.

“He also once contacted me to urge that Defense invest in research on irritable bowel syndrome,” Gates continued.

“With two ongoing wars and all our budget and other issues, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.”

You unseat Reid and Obama’s whole house of cards are coming down and the chances of impeachment will significantly increase become a real possibility IMO...

Anyone who's ever seen “Casino” (a true story about the Mob's control of Vegas) knows that Dirty Harry's withstood charges of misconduct before. This will go nowhere unless we take control of the Senate this year...an unlikely event.

Oh NO, Harry, say it ain’t so!

You KNEW you could have your way in the Senate, any time, any how, why did you go out on this limb and MAKE yourself vulnerable? < /sarcasm >

Harry has been dirty and in bed with the gangster element going back to the days when he was the Gaming Commissioner for Nevada, a relatively high-profile position that put him in close proximity with the people whom he was ostensibly supposed to be regulating. The opportunities for making “connections” and also assuring relief from future poverty abounded, and with this sense of invulnerability, Harry may have been just a little overconfident.

Here’s hoping the roof caves in on him.

I'm fairly certain if you were to remove dingy Harry's shoes, you'd find cloven hooves.

This ain’t going anywhere. In fact, I expect McConnell and Boehner to come to his defense.

Nothing to see here folks. The media will ignore it and stuff it down the memory hole. The Senate will never look into it - especially with his “friends across the aisle” John McCain and Lyndsey Graham running interference.

From the above link in my previous post:
“An investigative report by Los Angeles Times reporters Chuck Neubauer and Richard Cooper cited over 20 similar instances involving Senator Reid, either Rory Reid or other members of the Reid family, and special interest groups representing gambling, real estate, mining, and other areas. Over a four-year period from 1999 to 2003, the authors found, the Reid family’s various firms ‘collected more than $2 million in lobbying fees from special interests that were represented by the kids and helped by the senator in Washington.’”
