The numbers come from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and looked at 9,000 people.
The research followed all races of men from the time they were 12-16 years old until they were adults.
The findings say 49% of black men had been arrested by the time they were 23. Hispanic men were next with a 44% arrest rate. 38% of white men reported they had spent time behind bars.
The crimes covered everything from assault to underage drinking with minor traffic arrests not factored in.
The numbers told a very different story when it came to women.
20% of white females say they had been in the pokey by age 23. Hispanic women were next at 18% and black women third at 16%.

Nope, but 49% arrested is outrageous.
Simplifying, for Rio Linda. If there are 100 men -- 80 white, 20 black. The arrest rate for whites is 40%, so 32 whites arrested. The arrest rate for blacks is 50%, so 10 are arrested. If the conviction rate is the same for both races, then prisons/jails would be roughly 75% white - 25% black.
If that's not the racial makeup of prisons, then obviously there's a racist judiciary.
See how it works? Unless that pesky, 38% isn't right.

I don’t believe these numbers.
They are counting things like MIP — minor in possession of alcohol, which is the lowest misdemeanor, but they take the kids to the pokey.
Even if that number was in the general ball for black men being arrested, would you automatically assume most didn't actually commit a crime? That the American "system" is mostly to blame for it?
As I stated in an earlier post, I am not buying ANY of these numbers.
However, IF they really are correct, then far from seeing it as an indication that a high percentage of young Americans are criminals, I would consider it the most telling evidence I have seen of our country's transformation from a free society to a tyrannical Police-State.
Legalization of pot is a trick to lock up more black people.
It’ll be “available” to those over 18/21 but 16 year olds are going to buy it and be criminally liable for thier actions.
I would assume that most had not committed a crime - at least until the arrest statistics were compared to analogous conviction statistics.
These statistics report ARRESTS - not convictions. Our justice system is based on the philosophy that one is innocent until one is proven guilty. And as far as I know, that applies to people of all races. Do you think it does not?
Of course I don't think it doesn't apply to all races. But I've been around enough blacks in my 50+ years to know that an awful lot of them have been in trouble with the law, at least prior to 25 years old.
Specifically the type of crimes might tell a very different story.
Note that this is based on interviews (what people say/brag/admit/reveal) and not actual *DATA*!
What about 38% whites?
It should be fairly obvious to anyone who’s lived a little that young white guys are not nearly as likely to be in trouble with the law than minorities. Everyone knows that, including many minorities themselves, except they blame it on the American system for not giving them an ‘even break’, therefore they need to resort to crime.
38% arrested and ‘unlikely to have troubles with the law’?
Half of them?
That was why I said the report was somewhat fishy. I don’t believe the 38%.
Actually more than half, at least at some point in their lives.
The system is also skewed by states like GA, which sentences people to probation who can’t pay their minor traffic fines. Once the person gets put on probation, they are assessed all sorts of other monthly fees and are liable for further punishment if they commit any other infraction. They can then be thrown in jail if they don’t pay their probation fees, which goes on their record. They then lose their job and have more trouble finding another one. It’s a never ending cycle that is depriving poorer people of their liberty.
Oh...it’s testosterone. Girls of all races are less aggressive than boys.
