I remember reading about that, you actually have a living fence.
“...the U.S. Government Accountability Office is working on a one-year study that may lead to restitution for landowners.”
ROFLMAO! Yep. Sure.
FWIW, if this were happening on MY land, I’m pretty sure I’d be in prison right now.
My heart really goes out to these guys. I can’t even IMAGINE what it must be like, having people (and Mother Government!) ruining your fences and TRESSPASSING on your land! I’ve mended a LOT of fences in my day, with more to come. Ain’t no fun when the cows get out!
not likely...
The best tall living fence is ocotillo. It has long, thin straight branches with long thorns. If you harvest one, you can make the branches a wall with a few strands of wire holding them all erect. And maybe one of five of the branches touching the ground will grow roots, so your fence will be both dead and alive. And dead ocotillo decays very slowly.
Other cacti, like agave, have long thorns on the end and sawtooth thorns on the sides of their leaves.
But good old cholla are evil. They are very hard to kill, and most attempts to kill them makes more of them. This is what happens when you fall in a bush.

Good riddance.
I've said on many occasions that we don't need a wall (or a minefield, etc....).
All we need is a short handful of sniper teams, each armed with a Barrett 50 cal. Reposition them randomly.
Wouldn't fix the problem immediately, but either illegals would lose their nerve, or we'd run out of border-jumpers. Either would be ok by me.
Ha!
