Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is engaging in a little trolling ahead of President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address Tuesday, calling on the president to answer key questions about the economy, Internal Revenue Service and Benghazi.
In a press release sent Wednesday, Cruz posed five questions to President Obama he feels Americans deserve to have answered. Focusing on the targeting of conservative groups by the Internal Revenue Service, National Security Agency’s surveillance programs and the Sept. 11 attacks in Benghazi, Libya, the Texas Tea Partier called on the president to provide answers during the State of the Union.
“Americans all over the nation are asking questions about the economy, Obamacare, the IRS, Benghazi, and the NSA that aren’t being answered,” Cruz said. “However, as the President prepares his State of the Union address, he has signaled he has no intention of clearing the air.”
The 2016 hopeful also said he hopes to see President Obama lay out his plans to improve the economy. The Obama administration was dealt a blow after December’s jobs numbers were released, with a mere 74,000 jobs added.
“Will the President recognize that his economic policies have failed to create the millions of jobs that he promised and have, instead, reduced the labor force participation rate to its lowest level in decades?” Cruz asks.
And of course, the Texas senator took another stab at Obamacare, calling on the president to “take responsibility for misleading the American people.”
Since pushing for the Affordable Care Act to be defunded with a filibuster-style talk-a-thon — which helped lead to the government shutdown — in October, Cruz has stepped out of the spotlight.
However, his push to hold President Obama accountable could signify a new approach.
“The lack of accountability in Washington is creating a crisis of confidence in this country, and under President Obama, trust in government is approaching record lows. It no longer seems like Washington is protecting America,” Cruz said. “Washington is protecting Washington. These are the questions I hear when I’m home in Texas, and these are the questions the President should answer in order to restore credibility with the people. The State of the Union will be stronger for it.”
OT: I just read an email. It said the WH has been petitioned to recognize Muslim holidays in school calendars. Not surprised at anything anymore but is this true?

Every Conservative and Republican should be demanding that Obama fill the American people in on these matters in his SOTU address.
