Schumer offers Democrats a strategy to defeat tea party

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D- N.Y., laid out a Democratic strategy to combat the tea party in a speech Thursday saying his party has failed to respond to the tea party argument that the government is a major cause of Americans' problems.

Schumer said the biggest challenge facing America today is the declining middle class, so Democrats should focus their efforts on showing Americans ways in which the government can support the middle class.

"The tea party elites, with little rebuttal, have been able to make government the bogeyman," Schumer said during a speech at the liberal Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C. "They have convinced too much of America that government is the explanation for their ills."

Schumer offers Democrats a strategy to defeat tea party

They change their name to "The Big Brother Communist Party" and admit that they are for total income confiscation and authoritarian control....cradle to grave?

Very convienient Chuck, but the tea party has little
to do with it. Government itself has convinced Americans
that it is the problem.
Nice try though, smuck.

You can’t use Karl Marx’s ideas to help the middle class.

You can’t do it.

"The tea party elites, with little rebuttal, have been able to make government the bogeyman"

Government itself, by its own actions, is making the anti-government case. Beating on the Tea Party won't fix that for you, Chucky.

"The tea party elites,"

ROTFLMAO! Coming from a lifelong member of the DC political class. These folks sure look like rich and powerful "elites" to me...

I guess spinning the TEA Party as ignorant, racist, knuckle-dragging Kluxers didn't work, so now we're the Koch brothers.

Wonder who is the pivot man?

From the referenced article:
Schumer's examples included:
  1. raising the minimum wage,
  2. assisting with college affordability,
  3. investment in national infrastructure,
  4. promoting equal pay for women,
  5. and ensuring America has fair trading relationships and isn't exploited by countries like China.

The problem with Constitution-ignoring federal “leaders” like Sen. Schumer is the following. Note that the states have never delegated to Congress, via the Constitution, particularly Section 8 of Article I, the specific power to address the first four items in Shumer’s list as to how the federal government can “help” the middle class.

“focus their efforts on showing Americans ways in which the government can support the middle class.”

Raise their taxes! That ought to do it.

Schmucky offers the following:

* raising the minimum wage,
* assisting with college affordability,
* investment in national infrastructure,
* promoting equal pay for women, and
* ensuring America has fair trading relationships and isn't exploited by countries like China.

Rinse and repeat is what Schmuck offers. These are the same additives used in the last election cycle and the ones before that.

But here's the focus group issue that likely scored in creating the most distraction away from F&F, Behghazi, NSA, IRS, Obamacare, Syria, Iran.....

Schumer said that focusing on middle-class incomes and jobs should be a key component of the Democrats' strategy for the 2014 midterm elections in November. "The issue of middle-class incomes and jobs and what to do about them will dominate the 2014 election," Schumer argued. "The issue of the deficit, and of Obamacare, will be less important in determining who wins these elections."

This is a rehash of the divide and conquer tactic that allows democrats to create a smoke screen of class warfare. It's all they got.

If the Stupid Party had a dose of smarts they would counter Schmuck with the fact that the person in the oval office has had more than 5 years to provide a business friendly environment for creating good paying jobs but has accomplished nothing save enrich the Beltway ruling class.

And Schmuck should be made a poster boy for 'excuse making'.

Hey Schmuck! You're full of excuses! Always trying to shift blame to someone else, shirk responsibility and never own up to your failures as a member of Congress.

There is no such thing as “The TEA party”. T.E.A. is an acronym meaning “Taxed Enough Already” and is an independent political movement composed of hundreds of various groups throughout the country dedicated to lower taxes and smaller non intrusive government.

The socialist/communists which control the democrat in name only party and their cohorts in the print and visual media working in bi-partisanship with opponents in the Republican party have sucessfully demonized this movement. Associating the initials composing the acronym T.E.A. with the beverage or drug made with some call tea. Because those belonging to the T.E.A. movement are against government waste and expansion which both groups support.
