The next US ambassador to Norway, George Tsunis bundled $500,000 for President Obama in 2012, apparently knows nothing about Norway. Questioned by Senator John McCain about the anti-immigration Progress Party, which has now joined the ruling coalition, Tsunis had no idea what McCain was talking about. McCain asked for his thoughts; Tsunis replied, “You get some fringe elements that have a a microphone and spew their hatred. And I will tell you Norway has been very quick to denounce them.”
That is untrue. They are part of the ruling coalition, as McCain quickly pointed out.
Tsunis then replied, “I stand corrected. I would like to leave my answer at…it’s a very, very open society and the overwhelming amount of Norwegians and the overwhelming amount of people in parliament don’t feel the same way.”
Tsunis also referred to Norway’s “president,” although the country has no president, since it is a constitutional monarchy.
The Norwegian newspaper The Local commented, “Future US envoy displays total ignorance of Norway.”

Does it matter? he is Obama’s envoy and Obama knows nothing about Norway, except that they hand out Nobel Prizes.
I guess that even a tiny bit of basic competence is too much to expect of an Obama appointment.

Remember during the Bush years when the left kept whining about how the rest of the world hated us because of the “cowboy” mentality in the White House. I would rather be hated and feared by our enemies and friends instead of being laughed at and mocked like we are today.
McCain is like Jesse Jackson. He wants to impose his unpopular views on Northern Europe.
The guy probably knows more about Norway then Obama so it is all good......
McCain wants Syrian rebels to reside and raise funds in Norway among other criminal acts.
You would think that these stupid bastards would take 10 minutes to read a pamphlet or talk to somebody that knows something/anything about Norway.
Fact is last year Norway deported 6,500 illegals, this year already they have deported 6000 with this new “fringe” government. The police have the job to deport and the government has given them more money to do their job.
First clue was when Obama said “Norway” to him, he replied “Way!”
Generally...business folks have the least amount of interest or curiosity of history and geography....of any profession (my humble opinion). There’s an office in the state department which has the country expert, and you are correct....just an hour or two with him....would normally bring you to a fair point of understanding. Maybe this guy doesn’t care....it probably wasn’t the gift job that he was expecting (he’s a hotel expert....he’d been better in the commerce department).
Ask the idiot if he knows that King Oscar comes in a can.
He’s really looking forward to taking up residence in Copenhagen, Er.... Stockholm.
