Climate change threatens Winter Olympics

Washington, Jan 24 (ANI): Only six of the previous Winter Olympics host cities will be cold enough to reliably host the Games by the end of this century if global warming projections prove accurate.

Even with conservative climate projections, only 11 of the previous 19 sites could host the Games in the coming decades, according to a new study from the University of Waterloo (Canada) and Management Center Innsbruck (Austria).

“The cultural legacy of the world’s celebration of winter sport is increasingly at risk,” said Professor Daniel Scott, a Canada Research Chair in Global Tourism and lead author of the study.

“Fewer and fewer traditional winter sports regions will be able to host Olympic Winter Games in a warmer world,” he said.

Ah, now it becomes clear why they picked what used to be the summer resort town of the Soviet elite to hold a Winter Olympics. The propaganda value of showing a place that has a Mediterranean (Black Sea, actually) climate and decrying the fact that there's no snow. An effect, of course, of all that evil CO2.

Actually Sochi has winters more similar to Atlanta than Lake Placid. It was an odd choice for a winter olympics.

Justa is right. Sochi is a summer resort. It was a place where the proletariat went for “sanatorium”. It was chosen for political reasons. See the above link with videos. . Its an eye opener.

Two Rules About Global Warming

1 - Record Setting Cold Temperatures: Snow or ice does not disprove the existence of Global Warming. They are just anecdotal evidence of a temporary condition and cannot be regarded as valid indicators.

2 - Record Setting Warm Temperatures: Drought, rain, storms, melting ice, or other unusual conditions are undeniable empirical evidence that man caused Global Warming is destroying the planet, and maybe even the entire galaxy.

You hit it just right. A very, very true observation of the mindset of the man-made global warming crowd!
