Although the tea party's influence is "undeniable," it is not inevitable -- and it must be crushed for the good of the nation, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) argued in a long political speech on Thursday.
"They've won elections, stymied Democratic priorities and taken a sledgehammer to programs that are important to tens of millions of Americans," he complained.

The Tea Party has a grip?
The Tea Party is a counter revolution to the counter revolution of American Communism, and it scares the hell out of the left, as well as ineffective Republicans.
“We tea partiers must be doing something right”
It all comes down to money. If the FedGov were to shrink and have less influence, morons like Schumer/libs and the GOPe have less cash to line the pockets of various subverts across the nation. That includes these idiot Reps and Senators. They cannot let something stupid like a balanced budget and national debt get in their way.
The idiots (to them) in the Tea Party made the budget a rather hot topic in the national debate. They profit too much off taxpayer’s hard work and can’t let no stinking peon tell them what to do with “their” money!!!! For their own good, they have got to silence this voice of reason as it’ll cost them dearly ... not so much in the ballot box, but in their own pockets!
While eating (yes, I actually consumed food while reading the article) it occurred to me that maybe, just maybe, chucky’s been inbibing in some sizzurp or purple drank. Out of the mouths of idiots.
He’s delusional - what programs have been “sledge hammered”?
If only...
Chuck needs to be voted out.
ONLY to use a libertarian candidate as a “Shill” to STEAL some election, ALA VIrginia...
I cannot express my thoughts about Schumer without being banned.
The Tea Party has a grip?
There’s a reason we aren’t hearing much polling about the mid-terms: the results would moralize and encourage TEA.
His internal polling must have the RATS shaking with fear.
Look carefully at the language. The TP is a grass roots movement of the people. It is anti big government, pro low taxes, vigorously Constitutional. Politicians like Schumer who wish to “crush” this movement are tyrannical and totalitarian. Their ilk need to be crushed if our nation is to survive as a constitutional republic.
internal polling must be really really bad .. for them.
The left is going crazy, even when they are in power, and I’m sure this rant came from the top, which means something is brewing.....
Nope. Lower than that. So low that snail poop looks like stardust.
Schumer is scared to death that he may lose actual control of the senate. He controls all of the democrats and a slew of republicans.
There are 21 democrat senate seats up for grabs in November, 5 of which are retirements, 11 of which are freshmen, and 2 others are vulnerable.
In addition, real conservatives could possible replace Schumer Republicans in KY, GA, NE, MS, SC, TX, and TN. And he could count on Coburn in OK sometimes.
He is very, very worried that the United States Senate will be a far more conservative body next January!
What did Canada ever do to you to wish them such a fate?
In reality, the growth of the Tea Party directly corresponds to the outrage felt by conservative Americans to Obama's leftism. The left pretends to not understand this.
I thought Chuck said the Tea Party was dead. He should make up his mind what propaganda point he’s pushing and stick with it. BTW, Rush is demolishing this Chuck U speech on his show today.
It means the Marxists realize we’re about to bust down the door.
They’re realizing they have lost THEIR grip.
How or why they ever expected to maintain their illegally-gotten grip is proof that liberalism is a mental disorder.
The vast majority of upstate New York is conservative. We should let them create their own state and then let the New York City, Westchester County and nearby parts rot in their own stew. They suck out all the life out of the rest of the state. Without them, the rest of the state could thrive on red-state policies. The Southern New York State would then have 80 percent of all the dead-beats and it would force them to cut back on services across the board.
