California drought: Scientists to probe cause

Washington -- California's drought will be one of the extreme weather events that the American Meteorological Society will examine later this year to determine whether the cause is natural variability or human-caused climate change, a federal official said Tuesday.

Scientists have not yet linked the California drought directly to climate change, Thomas Karl, head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Climatic Data Center, said Tuesday in announcing the latest study. "I'M SURE THERE'S A WAY, but we haven't done it yet," he said.

The conclusion is foregone, the purpose of the study is to waste money.

Wow, what an investigation. They've already decided it's because of global warming.

They do need an investigation. They have to determine whether its Global Warming, the failed Bush polcies or Racism that's causing the drought.

Speaking of studies that waste money, how about this little gem.

California has been mismanaged for almost half a century. Instead of recognizing that roughly half of it is desert and just dealing with it, they need to form a government funded committee that will ascertain over expensive lunches why the state is so screwed.

LOL. I made a similar comment last night watching the news. The reason there is now a drought in CA is because most of the state is a dessert. They used to irrigate the dessert throughout the state. But that was affecting endangered mosquitoes, snails, lizards and turtles. So do they want farms or sandboxes?

The lettuce in the salads at those expensive lunches will be from Mexico, and the guy ostensibly here to pick it in Salinas is actually stealing copper in Modesto. That’s how California works.

A geologist long ago observed that California’s geological record indicated numerous droughts, some lasting from 100-300 years.

The state that should completely overcome the possibility of drought is Texas. This is because they both has access to the Gulf, and they have overabundant amounts of natural gas. This means that they could desalinize vast amounts of water to pump inland, to both lakes and enormous, man-made aquifers.

There's no reason to "investigate" except to push a corrupt, politically-motivated scam. There's absolutely no basis for an assertion that human-caused CO2 is responsible for the current situation, especially since far drier conditions were common long before the Industrial Revolution:

I am positive the Drought was created by the Tree Huggers that put up Wind Turbines on the Western Slopes of the Sierras causing a shift in the Jet Stream.

The Killing of the Eagles was their first warning, but they didn’t listen to Mother Nature. /s

Look on the bright side. The Wine produced this year will be one of the best.

HA!

Perhaps they can get a twofer out of this. They can claim global warming with an enhancement from the radiation from the nuclear power plant in Japan. Then they could use the information to destroy two types of power with one report.

Why a drought?

Chris Christie slowed the rains down?
