Chuck Schumer Pushes Plan To Wipe Out Tea Party Calls for nonpartisan ‘blanket’ primaries

By Jacqueline Klimas January 23, 2014

"Do what a handful of states have done and have a primary where all voters, members of every party, can vote and the top two vote-getters, regardless of party, then enter a runoff," Sen. Charles E. Schumer suggests in his scheme to weaken the tea party. (Associated Press)

Democrats should push for more open primaries as a way of weakening the tea party movement, Sen. Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat, said Thursday, laying out a plan to try to isolate the grass-roots conservative movement that has emerged as a key hurdle to President Obama’s agenda over the past three years.

Mr. Schumer said moving to a nonpartisan “blanket” primary — in which all candidates compete and the top finishers advance regardless of party affiliation — would force right-wing candidates to appeal to centrist voters, which he said would push out the most extreme candidates.

Such a system is in place in California, Louisiana and Washington state.

Mr. Schumer said the tea party movement is being controlled by a few wealthy donors whose limited-government philosophy does not reflect the ideas of millions of voters who identify as tea party supporters

Two can play that game.

While they're busy trying to nominate RINOs, we can nominate TEA Party candidates as Democrats.

From the article: “Mr. Schumer said the tea party movement is being controlled by a few wealthy donors whose limited-government philosophy does not reflect the ideas of millions of voters who identify as tea party supporters.”

What would cause him to make that type of assumption? Perhaps the DNC is being controlled by a few extremely liberal wealthy donors whose unlimited-government philosphy does not reflect the ideas of millions of voters......

It’s about time we force Schumer to defend big, bloated tyrannical, NSA government, especially this regime. Why do you think Kay Hagen in North Carolina is running away from the RAT administration? It’s not because North Carolinian’s love big, bloated government.

Make Schumer and the RATS defend this regime. Do you hear me, GOP?

The general problem is that forty percent of America are peeved and long-term hostile toward regular politics now. Thanks to various gimmicks....these are both Republicans and Democrats. The tea party folks might be mostly Republicans....but somewhere around ten to twenty percent....are Democrats. I think Schumer is a bit worried over where 2016 leads onto, and the idea that a Supreme Court judge or two will be retiring by that point.

“Do what a handful of states have done and have a primary where all voters, members of every party, can vote and the top two vote-getters, regardless of party, then enter a runoff,”

Are you sure you want that? The process where a person can get a plurality of votes but not a majority is what gave us both Senator Alexander and Corker. In both primaries, the conservatives split the conservative vote and allowed the RINO to emerge as the candidate with 35% of the popular vote.

Chuck Schumer Pushes Plan To Wipe Out Tea Party

Well, you know what they say -- The best laid plans of mice and crooked statist rights thief azzholes gang aft agley. But...bring it on.

Gut check, UpChuck, that would also apply to the extreme leftists -- or is he counting on vote fraud to take care of that?

He makes no assumptions. He just opens his weasel mouth and the lies come out. It’s all about intimidation, with Eric Holder’s help.

So Chuckie prefers the type of “democracy” practiced in Detroit and North Korea to AMERICAN Democracy.

Why am I NOT surprised?
