CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- President Nicolas Maduro's government is slashing the amount of U.S. dollars Venezuelans traveling to Florida and other popular destinations take with them under decade-old currency controls.

For the past few years, Venezuelans who CAN have been fleeing to Florida and buying real estate and homes with CASH....the market has been soft AND they don’t want to hang on to their wealth in that Chavez hell hole.
The Disney Corporation filed suit yesterday against the President of Venezuela saying, “There can only be one Goofy, and if the President of Venezuela is going to act like this, then he’ll have to be in our parades!”
Currency controls are coming to the US. When is the only unknown.
My only interest in bit coin is as a possible way of getting my money out of this country if things keep heading south.
I don’t think so.
The size and number of global companies with money and offices and other facilities so widely scattered will make the controls so full of holes they will be mostly ineffective.
Additionally, I think there are as many if not more US$ already off shore than here.
Absent abandoning the US$ there can be no effective flow control.
But three-quarters of the ones in Florida vote Democrat. Another group that had to leave because their own country got so bad, and now they are here trying to make our country more like their native hell hole.
You are talking about commercial. I’m talking about individuals. Restrictions on how much you will be able to move out of the country.
The monitoring of your precious metals purchases (already happening).
I’m also not speculating as to how effective any currency controls may be, just that they will come about.
And a lot of FReepers will approve. Best to keep our money here they'll say.
