Last Mexican Revolution the wrong people won. Friend from Mexico would not travel there during the previous regime because the government fought the cartels and made things very dangerous. He said if a regime is elected that will leave cartels alone, safety will improve for travelers. I guess that is what happened because he took his family back to visit relatives during Christmas. Sad state of affairs when criminals run the country.

These folks (los grupos de autodefensa) who have banded together in several Mexican communities to fight off the cartels when the government won’t do that (and may even be in corrupt “cohoots” with the cartels) are doing the right and courageous thing. It’s disgusting that the government then comes in and tries to disarm them merely because they were doing what the authorities should have done.
