Sochi Update: Russia to Punish Families of Potential Terrorists

In what may have been borrowed from the Israeli playbook, Russia has made it abundantly clear to wannabe martyrs for Mohammed — if you kill yourself in a terrorist attack, your family will face the consequences ... and pay dearly.
In a story that has slowly become known to the West since the bloody Islamic Jihadist attack on a school in Beslan, Russia in 2004, and most recently in Volgograd (the former Stalingrad of World War II fame), the Moscow authorities are cracking down in a fashion that have more than a few American and European Beta Males squirming in their jammies.
Sources ranging from the Wall Street-friendly Business Insider to the very left-of-center Think Progress to the US Government-ran Stars and Stripes have all noted a strategy that may not suit all palates, especially those of well-fed and even more protected self-proclaimed civil libertarians.
Described by some as "heavy-handed," authorities from the Russian Federation have ordered that no protests or rallies that coincide with the Olympics will be tolerated.
Period. Full stop. No further discussion.

Families who have Islamic kooks in them might want to stage an intervention.
Iirc this is how the Soviets avoided almost all if the hostage taking unpleasantness in Beruit in the 1980s. They had a couple Sovs who were taken hostage, but quickly figured out who the ringleaders were and took members of THEIR families hostage. And started sending the hostage takers things like fingers, toes and ears. The Sov hostages were quickly released and Sovs in Lebanon went unmolested from that point on.

Yep, so many wrongs about it on so many levels but Israel is already practicing it for decades and it seems like a working deterrent against terror.
But in Chechen case the majority of bombers are terminal patients or promiscuous girls who can’t be sold into marriage by their parents and has to be stoned anyway.
They have nothing to lose and their families are the primary beneficiaries paid by terrorists. An idea to discourage such a families makes perfect sense.

Not just party time -- the PLO was known to financially support the families of terrorist/suicide bombers for the rest of the family's lives.
Fact is, in Palestinian families (and elsewhere...) the mother and father PICK a son immediately after birth and designate him as the family's martyr. That son is raised with the belief, fostered by the mother and father that they will kill as many Jews as possible via suicide bombing, being the family martyr and earning their way into heaven.
There are video's out there (Memri Institute) which have documented the above as fact.
Can you imagine hating another religion more than loving your own son? That's what Palestinian's (and others in the middle east) do.

I was trying to say that, we need to be careful in threatning and using innocent family members, of even terrorists, as tools. What goes around will come around.
If family members are really guilty of something, that is a different story.
