New York (AFP) - Procter & Gamble Friday revealed its latest challenge to earnings glory. This time it's a facial issue.

The US consumer giant, fresh off a recent corner office shakeup and already facing a battle for market share in shampoo, said second-quarter earnings were marred by the growing preference of men for moustaches and beards, which hit sales in its "grooming" segment.

But the company said that increasingly popular body-shaving by men had the potential to offset the loss of the facial-hair business.

How very metrosexual. Anyway, Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars says all one needs are simple two-sided single edged razors.

I did the beard thing when I was younger and ditched it. These days I keep things trimmed to a perpetual 3 day growth so I’m ready to shave on short notice. I hate electric razors.

The mustache I’ve had since I was 7 and I’m not getting rid of it.

Sorry, but any man that shaves their body should immediately turn in their man card.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall, unless they get into filling Obama’s pockets with skimming from their lobbyist driven bailout. Think about it, Biden called him “clean and articulate” All we need now are P&G commercials and Tide logos embroidered on his jackets.

P&G has long been the largest employer in Cincinnati. I left there in 1971 after graduating from high school and have never wanted to go back.

Never could stand a beard on myself.

Had a mustache when we lived in Minnesota until one cold, cold day I broke it when I wiped my nose.

Used to use shaving cream from a can until I got a shaving mug and brush one Christmas. Haven't had an ingrown hair since.

I love it when companies do not meet Wall Street expectations and come up with these excuses.

Who among us could get away with doing the same in our lives?

...but do they not manufacture an electric razor which can be set to allow a perpetual one or two day growth of beard, which for some reason seems to be all the rage among fashionable men...huge market potential...

If I didn't live in Florida where 8 months a year it's hot and humid...

I'd grow a beard simply because the cost of razors are ridiculous...

I headed up a mkt group once...I’m not amazed at the P&G “reason” ... People in mkt come up with all kinds if brainstorms. But if people “believe” this one, then the Brooklyn Bridge needs another “For Sale” sign.

As in making it mandatory to shave? Heck he did it with healthcare and we didn’t think it would pass.

I like my beard... I let it grow in the winter to keep the wind and cold off my face and I keep it short and neat the rest of the year to look younger.

And it helps with my weak chin.

I agree. It even bothers me when my wife wants to trim my eyebrows and nose hairs. Masculinity has been dumbed down by man hating feminists and liberals, and the homosexual influence in the media and advertising.

“... second-quarter earnings were marred by the growing preference of men for moustaches and beards....”

Obviously caused by Global Warming...which has caused the recent Global Cooling...which has increased men’s desire to grow beards in order to stay warm.
