Bill Gates Predicts Almost No Poor Countries Left by 2035
LA Times ^ | January 22, 2014 | Shani Li

Billionaire and former tech mogul Bill Gates predicts that there will be almost no poor countries left in the world by 2035.

Almost all nations will be either lower-middle income or wealthier, and most will have surpassed the 35 countries that are currently defined by the World Bank as low-income, Gates says in his annual letter for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Gates, bring back jobs to America.

Or there will be a whole bunch of poor people, right here.

Sending jobs to China, is not growth.

well perhaps Billy Boy will give his billions away to all those third world countries living in poverty... oh but that won’t help since they have dictatorships that are the only rich.

The man never understood computers, always hired others to do his work, and now wants to believe that magical things happen if he says so. Obviously history and economics are not his strong suit

I suppose “poor” is a relative term, and as you say, since we’ll all be poor, as I totally concur, so in essence, no one will be poor.

Bill Gates is your typical optimist in an evil world that is becoming more evil day by day. The Scriptures teach that evil men will wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. And so it is. The communists and Marxists and socialists have destroyed our once wonderful and thriving country blessed of the Lord Jesus and made it and their children into a cesspool of degradation and perversity and will collapse the nation. Gates is a simple fool, stupid is as stupid does is the whole left wing godless pagan monsters.

Let God be true and every man a liar in order that thy sayings may be true and thou mayest overcome.

Who is he that overcomes but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

The man never understood computers,

Say what else you will about Bill Gates, but this one is just wrong. According to those that worked for him, he will drill you on your technology, getting deeper and deeper until you were talking about assembly language and machine code, and how it fit into the operating system he took control over (DOS). He knew that code down to the machine code level.

He'd also berate you and call you names if you couldn't keep up. He was horrible to work for. Yet, if you did, in the early years, you became a multi-multi-millionaire.

How can such a smart guy sound so dumb? He has never heard of inflation? That's how elites make sure they remain wealthy and others slide into poverty.

Poor, dumb liberals. They think they can pass laws that can make everyone equal, as opposed to giving everyone equal opportunity to better themselves in their own ways.

The global elite want a nice “domesticated” populace for their bon vivant lifestyle. The idea there won’t be poverty is laughable. We’ll have indentured servants across the globe. Hooked on their benevolence and Welfare payments.

Some say they want cattle. The truth is they want horses and dogs. Domesticated animals to work for their benefit.

Right....lemme guess, one of their circle jerk committees or foundations will conduct the studies. The SAME people who, year after year, tell us Norway has the best standard of living and the happiest people. (ofcourse 90% of them of alcoholics and a frikking pair of socks is $75 in Norway but I digress).

Then this same group of elites will declare us ALL first world and bloody rich.

Not even.

They want to rid the earth of a large, large chunk of us.

Then, they want who is left and not servicing their technocratic lifestyles living in a Hunger Games environment. A sort of Soviet Union meets the Hunger Games. Scientists, robotics engineers, etc will still have a need.

Probably minus the actual hunger games but who knows they may evolve to that level in short time too.

Think I am crazy? Read John P. Holdren's book and papers. He's very clear what they think needs to happen.

Then ask yourself who the Science Czar currently is.

Gate is all on board the wealth transfer by the UN from the rich nations to the poor nation. Socialist world.

We have seen what happens when you have a permanent entitlement with welfare queens. How that leads to intergenerational poverty and dependence. Now the UN would make welfare queens of us all.

This ends badly.

"almost no poor countries by 2035"

That very well may be true, but the corollary will be that we will have almost no wealthy countries, either. Wealth will continue to flow out of the US and Europe and into the Third World. This will tend towards a worldwide proletariat living at a level somewhat like that of the poor in America today - fed, but landless, renters and porn addicts, hypnotized by ever more extreme forms of entertainment, and provided with "free" mediocre health care.

Since there will be this leveling, the rulers will feel free to say there are no poor because we have "equality". We will NOT have growth and hence will not have a larger pie to divide, because the rulers have declared all growth verboten. Growth harms the environment! And the 1% will NOT go away - the world government elite will co-opt them and integrate them into their plans, just as Obama has been doing here in the US.

From what I’ve read, the whole global warming hoax was supposed to give the globalists the transfer of wealth tools they needed with carbon taxes and credits. The need to “save the Earth” was supposed to be the moral imperative that would cause industrial nations to go along with the whole thing.

Then nature just did whatever it wanted to do as normal, and the hoax has been exposed. However, the hoaxers just keep going as if nobody notices their pants are down around their knees.

I notice few, if any addressed the point of his comments, which is that everyone’s boats are rising, and the poor people of today will be living at a much higher standard in the future.

We only have to look at the United States, and often even our own families, to see how that has come to pass. Gates is saying the same will happen in large parts of the world, not just here.

It is coming to pass because Gates quit his day job, put himself and his money at risk and created a computer revolution that changed the world.

It also is coming to pass because companies like Monsanto are willing to risk their capital to produce GMO seeds, seeds that even today, only 20 years down that road, are feeding tens of millions who would otherwise have starved to death. Detractors seldom, if ever, mention the immorality of not providing a means to those who want to feed themselves. They curse the darkness and curse those who are lighting candles.

These and many other modern technologies are changing the civilized world, and creating a better standard of living.

Our economy is depending more each year on a rising pile debt, as are other western culture economies. There’s not enough manufacturing on our own soil (disregarding U.S.”based” manufacturing on foreign soil) for sustainable revenues to support big government and government-connected businesses. Economic support for despotic, foreign regimes does no one any good.

Bloated, expensive code is costly to the whole economy and costs more than it benefits. Dirty deals for general surveillance against everyone are also a problem. Such code is also being replaced by open source efforts superior in ways that count.

Corporations making patented GMOs are anti-competition tyrants (see legislation attempts against small farms) and are setting the world up for a super-famine with their implied assumptions that they’ve protected crops against every possible future blight or weather condition.

until you were talking about assembly language and machine code

Try microcode, with operands representing the processors 8- or 16-bit registers, implicit operands or indirect memory address references. Otherwise, your spiel has the whiff and terror of what could easily transpire to lesser-experienced or -talented employees in his presence.

The problem here is the word “poor” is being used without definition. Gates is using it more as “can get adequate nutrition/shelter/sanitation to survive indefinitely”, vs “anyone not in the top 13% income bracket is legally poor”. Much arguing about not the same issue.

"I suppose 'poor' is a relative term"

The problem is that the author of the article used the term 'poor'. If you actually read the article, Gates uses the phrase 'extreme poverty'

Living on $10/day is poor. Living on $1/day is extreme poverty

Gates is actually right. Most of the world is above extreme poverty and probably, tho not certainly, those residuals in Asia and Africa will rise out of extreme poverty in the next few decades.

So Gates wants to dispel the myths and these myths arise because those who live on a $1000/day, $100/day, or $75/day look down on those at the lowest incomes of $1/day and $10/day, $20/day and can't differentiate between them.

But the guy living on a $1/day can easily see how much better off he would be at $10/day, or $20/day, or $100/day.
