Skip to comments.US Military Now To Allow Turbans, Other Religious Clothing

The Pentagon has approved a new policy that will allow troops to seek waivers to wear religious clothing, seek prayer time or engage in religious practices. Defense officials say the waivers will be decided on a case-by-case basis and will depend on where the service member is stationed and whether the change would affect military readiness or the mission.

Do the turbans go under or over the helmet? Just askin.
Practicing Christians and Jews will have to pursue/practice/seek their religion off base.
Then, they must not talk about it nor use social media to discuss their religion.
You still won’t be able to wear the crucifix or talk about Jesus though, right? That would be “unconstitutional” according to the Federal activist “judges.”
We could do worse than having devout Sikhs to fight muslims.
Silly you..Pentagon just announced a $25 million contract to develop Kevlar turbans..
Wait until they allow muslim women into the US military. Every American foundation is under assault by the marxists in power and yet we go about our daily lives a majority unaware of the evil that will consume all of us
now THERES an Image for the AGES!
Silly YOU...think the Pentagon would spend only 25 million developing ANYTHING? Heck, $25 million might pay for the initial feasibility study via a university in an influential senator’s state...
The beard and turban are typical of Sikhs not Muslims. Sikhism is a monotheistic religion centered in northern India. Adherent males wear turbans and beards and carry a symbolic dagger. They have a long warrior tradition especially in the Indian and British military.
Simple as ABC. Anyone But Christians.
I heard there are exactly 3 sikhs in the US military
so you figure out who this is all about
and woe be to any commander who denies muslims their beards and 5 times a day prayer
"All waivers submitted by Muslims will be approved. All waivers submitted by Christians will be rejected."
He would think it’s not a military but a tribe.
On the same note, the few Sikhs have been wearing their turbans for decades in the US military with no harm no foul (they are Patriots to our military and the US).
That said, I believe ALL military (enlisted or officer) should wear the same uniform, including enlisted female sailors wearing the traditional dixie cups when in dress uniform. Women want to be the same as men in the military, then let them wear the exact same uniform, along with the same haircut. Yeah, I'm hard core...sue me.
Camo outfits: one for blending in with the sky, the other for use in total darkness.
The last I heard a person can still wear a crucifix. And yes, they can talk about Jesus without being hassled, except in some areas of the world, which as a grunt you probably don't want to do. Think target.
What is it about the word UNIFORM do the "warrior" libs not get?
You are mixing apples and oranges. Sikh's are a different religion and strongly against Muslims. Do some research.
Patton said the Koran was a “a good book and interesting” but he had a very negative view of the N. African arabs.

|Woo hoo!! And the first 27% is in!! Thank you all very much!!|
Do you have a source to this? I find it shocking.
“To me it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Muhammad and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab. He is exactly as he was around the year 700, while we have kept on developing.” - General Patton
I just read Patton’s diaries and saw it.
Here’s a link on the internet:
???? not sure what that snark was directed at
I was discussing what segment of the military this new policy is intended for, not comparing religions
do you think this new policy was announced to cover 3 sikhs or thousands of muslims?
even though the new policy states that commanders are to decide on a case by case basis as it affects the mission, do you think any CinC is going to deny muslims their beards and 5 times a day prayers?
From your link:
During the two-week voyage across the Atlantic, while his hundred-ship convoy zig-zagged to avoid enemy U-boats, Patton read the Koran, which he described in his war journal as a good book and interesting.
I thought the military academies had to remove all mentions of God and Jesus from everything on their campus. Maybe I was wrong.
My first thinking is that libs don't think beyond their bleeding heart emotions and some erroneous thinking about equality of the sexes. Secondly, most don't understand the necessity of strict discipline, unit cohesion and standards, not to mention honor, duty, and sacrifice. Attributes that are built in basic training.
Those who have never served in the military will NEVER understand the training and why it is required to turn boys into men to fight. Those politicians who have served, have been around too long and forgot those principles.
And let's not forget the BLTLBJxyz segment.
Live from Las Vegas we present the fierce Prancing Death's Head Brigade!
Gas mask? I don't think so honey, it just does horrible things to my make-up and the color is SO wrong.
destroying the U.S. military, one rule at a time
Didn't mean to be "snarky", just letting you know that Sikhs are not Muslims. And read my further post that all military should wear the same uniforms. Just saying the Sikhs are NOT our enemy.
Can I assume Christians will be able to say grace, wear crosses and pray? Or is the new ruling another bow to radical Muslims?
The Sikhs are fighters and they fight Muslims all the time. This is because the Sikh believes in freedom of religion. As long as the Army comes up with an acceptable uniform standard, they can wear their turbans all they like.
So, what's next? Allowing this "other religious clothing" in the white hut? I just hope it doesn't get to that point!
I believe that to be only at graduation commencements. I also could be wrong. Don't think that is so important as long as they exclude other religions. The academies are there to build warrior officers. I have no problem with not mentioning God or religion. It's not the place for that. If the cadets want religion, I believe the academies still have chapels.
And yes, I know that Christians are getting a raw deal around the world. While I'm not Jewish nor a Christian I have tried to live my life incorporating their values, principles, and mores. I live by Christian/Judeo ethics. They are the best I've seen on this rock and have advanced mankind more than any other.
Patton started reading the Koran aboard ship on the way to North Africa and got bored with it. He didn’t get very far and went back to reading a detective novel.
Why the surprise?
Just another nail driven, unopposed, into the American coffin.
Whatever Patton wrote about Islam was written in a time period when the majority of Americans had never heard of muslims and did not even know how to spell the word, and that included politicians.
Come to think of it — politicians still don’t.
And Patton’s words are just as true today as they were then.
My local convenience/liquor store was bought out a couple years ago by Sikhs. The owner and his son couldn't be more nice to me, even better than the previous Anglo owners. I've had short conversations with the Son and he agrees that Muslims are the scourge of humanity, his words.
While I know little about their religion, it's probably likely that sometime in history they were conquerors as most ethnic/nationals were throughout history. Times change, and every Sikh I've met is as nice as can be. And no, they are not BSing me. I can always tell that from the look in a person's eyes and if their smile is genuine. I grew up in Los Angeles and learned some street smarts. I can tell.
“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its
votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in
a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic
apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident
habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of
commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the
followers of the Prophet rule or live.
A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and
refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that
in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his
absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine,
must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of
Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.
Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the
influence of the religion paralyses the social development of
those who follow it.
No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from
being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing
faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa,
raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that
Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the
science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization
of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient
Or were you just ranting about the horrific religion of Islam? There we will agree.
I know the difference between Sikhs and Muslims.
If I was fighting Muslims, I would love to have a Sikh fighting along side. Maybe even a Gurkha.
Now....imagine a Sikh Marine division.
In 69 Ft.Carson Colorado We had a SIKH in 5th Med. BN. a lot of ignorant American soldiers thought because he had a beard and a turban he was a bloody Muslim. Not one of them could have bested him in a fair fight if he was drunk and they were not.Not one. And he was no slave of Allah.
But praying using the almighty name of Jesus is verboten!
and I’d be the one in the “total dark” outfit has something between his legs he’s hiding from the drones.
