Officials, family and friends say a man killed this week by a commuter train was a Silicon Valley tech worker trying to save another victim who was critically injured.
Philip Scholz, 35, was trying to pull another man from the tracks Monday. The second man, whose name has not been released, has been too injured to talk to investigators but apparently did not want to leave the tracks, leading both men to get hit by the train traveling between 50 and 70 mph through Santa Clara.
SVPing...
At least it was quick.
Sounds like the the rescuee did not want to be rescued. IF the guy on the tracks was trying to commit suicide...I don’t even know what to say. Suicide can be such a selfish act.
most under reported event in new jersey. one every couple weeks. takes a toll on crews.
Sometimes, men are called-upon to perform heroic and selfless acts. They never know when it will happen, and it only happens to few. God Bless him.
Greater love has no man, that he give up his life for another.
“Sometimes, men are called-upon to perform heroic and selfless acts.”.....
Not only “men” but remember that little 8 year old boy who gave his life trying to save his uncle and grandfather from their burning home this last week. A true hero in my eyes and may the little man RIP.
Yah, I cringed a bit after I hit ‘post.’ Should’ve included everybody, regardless of age or sex.

The ‘true hero/heroine’ regardless of who etc is the one that goes TOWARDS gunfire, fire, danger etc when the others are leaving.
