The American Civil Liberties Union and the ACLU of Louisiana filed a lawsuit this week against a public school district in rural western Louisiana contending that school officials and at least one teacher harassed a Buddhist sixth-grade student for not adhering to Christianity.

The ACLU filed the suit against the Sabine Parish school board in U.S. District Court in Shreveport on behalf of parents Scott and Sharon Lane, reports local CBS affiliate KSLA. One of the Lanes’ children, called “C.C.” in the suit, is a Buddhist of Thai descent.

The parents claim that school officials began harassing him about his religious beliefs almost immediately after he showed up at Negreet High School. …

Can’t expect the American Communist Litigation Union to be even-handed now, can we? After all, their founders had supported the notion of state-imposed atheism . . .
I am for socialism, disarmament, and, ultimately, for abolishing the state itself… I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and the sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal.

Read the story. Some of it is sounds pretty dreadful. I have to wonder about this, though:

Roark also regularly features religious questions on her tests such as “ISN’T IT AMAZING WHAT THE _____________ HAS MADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” When C.C. did not write in Roark’s expected answer, “LORD,” she belittled him in front of the rest of the class.

So they're taking a test and she sees he's not writing the answer and makes fun of him? Or she hands back the papers the next day, and says, "Oh look, little Buddhist Boy didn't know the answer!" Neither version sounds that credible.

But if half of the stuff is true, the school district is going to have to make a very big payout.

If this proselytizing is allowed in government schools, then Christian children are doomed in predominantly muslim, Jewish, Mormon, & atheist areas of the country. Protestant children are doomed in Catholic school districts, & vice versa. For, if LA can lecture & test on Jesus, then Utah can do so on Joseph Smith.

Think of anywhere in California, NY, Utah, Miami, Dearborn & Hamtrank MI. If your job or military unit transfers to any of these areas, your child's religious education & therefore, their Salvation, is in jeopardy.

The last people I would want to teach my children about Christ is UNION TEACHERS, most of whom cannot teach our children to read & write, but have mastered the teaching of putting on a condom & raping underage children.

I had some great teachers in school, but I also had some bad ones. How do you feel about a pedophile queer teaching your kids about the Immaculate Conception? I'll bet he/she/it has some interesting ideas on the subject. How will Common Core deliver the subject.

If this story is true, this is a gross violation of the 1st amendment, & a gross violation of a parent's right to choose their children's religious education.

Be careful for what you wish. This idea of teaching/testing religion in public schools is a further surrender of parental rights to the government, as surely as is sex education. We see where that has gone - straight to perversion, promiscuity, an explosion of unwed, ignorant, impoverished teen mothers, & fathers with 23 children, none of whom he supports or parents.

The solution is NO government schools, rather private schools & home schooling only. Then the parents direct their child's religious education, not Common Core, Barack Obama, & the Lesbian Satanist biology teacher named Lucifer.

Take your kids to the church of your CHOICE, where you can be sure your kids are receiving the religious teaching you expect & approve. That is Freedom. Government religious education is tyranny.

You are aware that the last “plank” in the Communist Manifesto mandates “(f)ree education for all children in public schools”, right . . . ? That’s how all-encompassing Marx wanted it to be.
