A year or two ago, some nice FReeper suggested I start taking massive quantities of D3 and darned if I haven’t evaded all the colds/flus/creeping cruds that everyone around me has gotten.

If it ain’t broke...;]

Some people get their daily dose of pseudo-science from sources intended for low info voters. Big pharma wants these people to stay sick and stupid. Omega3 and d3 will both make low info voters smarter.

I eat two 3.25 ounces of canned kipper snacks a week and one 3.75 ounce canned sardines a week. Right out of the can. I love em.

Here is one for the record. I have MS and in the last 5 years had 3 bad relapses. Hospitalization was required. Treated with high doses of steroids to get back to any semblance of normality.
They put me on beta Interferon but I can not give myself shots and have no one to give me the shots. Anyway, it is also about $6000 a month.
Anyway on research I read D3 had some claims of great results for MS sufferers. I started taking 1000 IU once a day.
Have not taken the beta shots since 2010 and have had no worsening of symptoms since 2010. No relapses like the three I had between 2007 and 2010. I know I will never be cured of MS. It is like cancer and worth too much money to the health care industry; hospitals, doctors, pharma, and the companies that make MRI's.
All three times I was in the bills were over $35K for 4 days. Then the followup with doctors etc. With O care I do not look forward to another relapse as it will only put me on the death panel list.

O care will not want to cover me for to many more $35K relapses. It is why I nearly cried the day o care was passed. So on with the 1000 IU gell caps for life if necessary.

Anywhere from 4-8.

I’m almost through my 2000 iu bottle and about to open a 5000 iu.

I think the 2000s are more flexible and I should’ve gotten them instead but they had a buy-one-get-one sale and well, you know.

Good to hear it hasn’t gotten worse since you started with the D3.

Do you get flue shots? I haven’t had one in 20 years or more.

Avoided viral pneumonia and strep. Didn’t think it was because of D, but maybe.

Turmeric is said to help MS and even if it doesn’t, it does so many other outrageously good things, we should all take it, anyway.

Bottom line: We need to stay healthy and we’re doing it with our D 3. :}

Yup. I get one every year. Too many things wrong with me now at my advanced years to take a chance.

D3 really jacks up your immune system.

Makes sense to me.

Since most diseases are simply things living in or around us all the time anyway, having an immune system that fights it more effectively can only be a win/win situation.

Yup.

I can’t afford to get sick or die because hubby is critter-care-impaired.

If something happens to *me*, they’re doomed!

:D

I cut back on the D3 somewhat during the summer.

I ride my Harley wearing tank tops for 8 -12 hours and get a *lot* of sun.

Soon as riding season ends, the dose goes back up again.

Don’t know if this is true, but I heard the only ‘natural’ way the body gets D is through the skin absorbing sunlight. I suppose other light sources can be used.

Good news re the boost to the immune system.

Yeah, but when it is not a prescribed drug they can not make the money they can with prescription drugs. Substantial difference. Would they rather me taking soft gel caplets at $5.00 for 100 or $300+++ for 90 if they could get it approved as a pharmacy dispensed drug
They already tried that in Great Britain with vitamin C a few years back and it was not any better than Vitamin C from the local grocery stores or Big Lots. In fact the pharma version had bad side effects.

Especially for the elderly because their immune system isn’t as strong as it used to be. They can use all the immune system jacking up they can get.

It makes a lot of sense to adjust the dosage like you’re doing. Best to you and yours.
