He’s building his new agenda around an issue that has been in the making for decades: economic inequality. It’s expected to be the major theme of Tuesday’s State of the Union address, and when Capitol Hill doesn’t act on his ideas, he says he’ll use a “pen and phone” strategy to do what he can without Congress.

If total equality were somehow to occur, it would only be in a world where everbody was as completely miserable as possible with no hope for anybody to improve their lot.
This war on reality and human nature is one they simply cannot win.
The free market is the great equalizer that makes a niche for all. If a man doesn’t want to serve gays, someone else will and that results in two businesses instead of one.
If they wish to talk to an expert on inequality, they ought to interview George Obama....

Yes - there is income inequality because in 2014 there is nothing between the rich and poor.
But you middle classers keep voting for this.
“The Plan” seems to be to raise taxes on those EEEEEVIL 1%ers and throw the money at more boilerplate government programs like “job training” and “universal pre-k”.

Just like the War on Poverty, the War on Drugs and the War on Racial Inequality, the War on Income Inequality is never going to end because those who benefit from it never want to get off the government gravy train.
But isn’t the “War On Income Inequality” just another word for “Socialism”?

Williams introduces the "income inequality" matter in this paragraph:
"Democrats plan to demagogue income inequality and the wealth gap for political gain in this year's elections. Most of what’s said about income inequality is stupid or, at best, ill-informed. Much to their disgrace, economists focusing on measures of income inequality bring little light to the issue. Let’s look at it." - Walter E. Williams
In the paragraphs which follow, he does just that! Too bad we didn't have honest and articulate politicians in both Parties in Washington who would be as straight with American citizens as is Dr. Williams.
Just read candid comments from Saul Alinsky. His love of the poor was pure fabrication. He saw the poor as useful tools for enriching himself.
The Fox-Piven strategy is all about harming the poor and directing their anger at “the rich” to force socialism.
SEIU bigwig, Scott Learner was caught on tape a couple years explaining the need for more poor people. He wanted more home foreclosures, job losses and hunger. He wanted it to force people out in to the street demanding socialism.
I wouldn’t even know where to start with Obama but I don’t think he’s in any real danger of poverty.
This equality crap is nothing new. Milton Friedman had the best response to these people.

The idolatry of equality. God elects whom he will. Darwin says survival of the fittest. Now where does this idol fit in in a world view “forcing chaos into order” will there be equality of genetic makeup too.
Duh, if there is no “Income Inequality,” then there is no incentive to get ahead, and thus no The American Dream - - - - .
PROPOSAL: offer 125-percent deduction to business who share profits with every single full-time employee on an equatable basis, from CEO to janitor. One model would be that profit-sharing would be proportional to full-time employee pay. Whether this would also require equitable payouts to part-time employees is your option; I strongly suggest it should. Merit bonuses of 100 percent of the profit-sharing bonus would be covered, intended for payout based on merit.
RATIONALE: Workers in a company are the people who provide the value to customers, to encourage the customers to buy there. That value then drives profits up in that company. For some reason, though, most companies only have managers in the "bonus pool", even though the managers may contribute little or nothing to the bottom line.
"If you want to discourage something, tax it; if you want to encourage something, subsidize it". By broadening the base of the bonus payouts, you increase the amount of money put into the hands of people who will spend it, driving the economy upwards. If you make across-the-board bonus payouts attractive enough, more small mom-and-pop businesses would be encouraged to participate in such a distribution. In addition to equitable payouts, employers will be more willing to enhance bonuses based on merit.
Look at what has happened with the "fiscal cliff" hanging over the heads of investors: businesses are accelerating payouts of dividends, individual investors are in profit-taking mode, and all are trying to make adjustments to minimize tax liabilities in a legal manner.
Offer this as a replacement for some of the business deductions that will be sunset, and the combination would be revenue neutral or even revenue positive -- workers have fewer ways to shelter payments from taxes, so more of the money would be subject to income tax. Also, states will see improved sales tax receipts as the workers receiving profit-sharing spend the money.
Actually, he just might manage to accomplish that goal to a large degree. It’s been done before, and destruction is always easier than construction. He’s already managed a good deal of redistribution from the producers to the leeches, and when the tsunami of illegals starts, it will escalate. It only took a few decades to produce present-day Detroit, and that was just one city, the productive still had places to which to flee. This will be nation-wide.
