“Is your TV spying on YOU? It sounds like science fiction but many new TVs can watch you - telling advertisers your favourite shows or even filming you on the sofa. And there’s no off switch!”

“You are sitting in bed in your pyjamas, drinking a cup of cocoa. A loved one lies next to you, watching late-night television. Pillow talk is exchanged. An alarm clock is set. Eventually the lights are turned out.”

“Earlier, you sat on the living-room sofa eating supper, before loading the dishwasher and heading upstairs.”

“You have, in other words, just enjoyed a perfectly normal night, in a perfectly normal home. The curtains are drawn, the central heating turned up. It’s cosy, relaxing and, above all, completely private. Or so you thought.”

“The truth turns out to be quite the opposite. For on the other side of the world, people you didn’t know existed are keeping a beady eye on your every move.”

“These characters can see what clothes you have been wearing and what food you’ve eaten. They heard every word you said, and logged every TV show you watched. Some are criminals, others work for major corporations. And now they know your most intimate secrets.”

How ‘bout “sex toys”? LOL!

Have you ever heard the word teledildonics?

It all goes into the haystack.

Yep, FB itself isn’t the problem, but many people have made it SO easy to learn way more about their lives than most of us care to know, that it’s pretty silly to worry about whether the power company is monitoring how often they dry a load of clothes ;-)

Sorry, just have dumb TV.

My computer connects to the internet. Nothing else. I even have a dumb cell phone.

If you have all the latest gadgets that talk to each other then you can worry.

I don't.

He is wrong, there is stuff in/on the old one that can break. No software. But springs, levers, and such can/will break.

Electric ones can break if they fall. They are either on low power wiring from the hvac or have a 9v battery powering them. The biggest points of failure are any kind of button you press, wearing that out to the point it doesn’t register you pressing it anymore. If on hvac wiring for power a power surge might damage it.

I got a few notices asking me to say where I lived but ignored them. I left that off for a reason and I do not post very much personal info. People know where I live so why broadcast it. I was on a sports forum and a member posted a young girl’s FB page including her pictures and certain messages. I went to FB, told her but I don’t know what she did. Sometimes I have to wonder about the people on those sites. Some act like kids. Maybe because some are teenagers.

Does the Home Owners Association know you're using a thermonuclear cloths dryer?!

No, but my wife does after seeing how badly I shrunk up some of her sweaters.
