The trauma kits will include standard first-aid items as well as advanced tourniquets and compression bandages to control arterial bleeding in extremities, Glassman said. Its much more the type of material you would have, unfortunately, in a war zone.

Part of the nextgen of active shooter training...and long overdue.
... what's that?
... the trauma kits are just for the police?? So that they can go home to their families at the end of the day?
No surprise.
I’ve been around my share of shootings, and I’ve never seen a cop administer first aid.
They don’t even want other people to help them.
I guess it’s better than issuing 1,000 body bags to each police cruiser.
You are reaping the harvest of your omissions and bias, AP. Stop complaining.
We might need some trauma kits for the whining on this thread.
a security screener fatally shot in last years shooting at Los Angeles International Airport received no medical aid for 33 minutes. He was instead wheeled out by airport police to paramedics who werent allowed to enter because the area had not yet been declared safe
It’s just another brick in the wall.
The problem is the puzzified medics who don’t WANT to go in unless they “feel” 100% safe.
Life is full of risk.
Accept it or get out.
Where in the story did you get just for police?
“...The LAPD is a first responder, and theres a lot of times when there is an incident where the officer (or civilian) has been shot, so theres trauma, but the area is not secured and the paramedics are not permitted to enter, so they must administer first aid, life-saving techniques, Glassman said.”....
Makes sense.
The do patrol a war zone.
Wonder when Oakland PD will do the same.
I think the time draws near when the police will have to be very afraid. The police do not see themselves on OUR side. They see themselves on THEIR side.
EMS are not allowed into a non secure area unless they have certification. You need police training and EMS training to qualify. EMS cannot go into a HAZMAT area unless certified and properly equiped.
Yep.
And every time a cop murders a citizen under color of authoratah and gets away with it more citizens see the exact same thing.
The tipping point is rapidly approaching.
They're going to need those trauma kits.
Bless their hearts...
Yeah, it’s not my job.
For neck wounds on a perp, wrap the tourniquet tightly around the wound & neck. Release the pressure every 15 minutes, then reapply. If bleeding persists, increase pressure.
We have had these kits on ships and drilling rigs and platforms for years.
