The mayor of Sochi told a reporter that there are no gay people in the city hosting the Winter Olympics — but the patrons of one bar didn't get the memo.
The same BBC reporter had visited a gay tavern in the Black Sea resort town the night before he interviewed Mayor Anatoly Pakhomov, who said the whole city is straight.
"We do not have them in our city," Pakhomov flatly told the BBC.
Pressed further, the mayor backtracked a bit: "I am not sure, but I don't bloody know them."

I’ve been to Sochi a number of times. Didn’t know that there was a gay scene in the city. Never saw fags walking around. But then again, I wasn’t looking for them.
heh He sounds like the Spetsnaz Col. who was in command of the unit that recaptured a Russian cargo ship from the Somali Pirates.
When they returned with the captured cargo ship the Col. was asked by reporters where the pirates and their pirate chase ship were he said "There were no pirates we just helped a ship in distress."
I have not heard of Somali Pirates taking a Russian ship since...

I don’t think it would be a difficult task for modern “journalists” to find homosexuals anywhere.

Perhaps all Sochi’s gays have moved to Iran or vice versa.
Their tactics are more Gay-G-B than Gay-K-K.
That’s the way it should be: Homosexuals should be in the closet so that the rest of the citizens, children in particular, can be shielded from their existence, even as much as raising the question of whether they exist at all. Why would anyone want children exposed to the sordid, dangerous sex acts that some people choose to engage in?
Homosexuals have been butt-effing in private for nearly all of human history; there is no reason for society to have that fact broadcasted to them. I say that we should reinstate the sodomy laws (yes, for heterosexuals too).
He could be right. “Gay,” by most definitions, means politically militant sexual anarchy. He probably has none of those in his city.
Didn't Ahmanutjob one time say that Iran had no gays, as well?
