Ticket prices plummet weekend before Super Bowl (18K still available)

So much for being the most expensive Super Bowl ever.

With ticket prices in a freefall, seats for Sunday’s MetLife Stadium matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos could end up being the least expensive for a Super Bowl since the post-9/11 game of 2002.

After hitting record highs last week, ticket prices took a nose dive over the weekend, with the cheapest prices plummeting nearly 50 percent, to a low of $1,150 from about $2,200 at 9 a.m. on Jan. 19.

Does the NFL have to pay for the increased security? Or do Taxpayers?

Heck, the NFL doesn’t even pay room taxes for their hotel rooms, why would they pay for security?

Taxpayers subsidizing billionaires. America 2014.

The 2012 SB in Indianapolis cost the city about $8m in extra expenses.

Of course if you believe the politicians, that was trivial compared to the “economic benefit”.

And I must say compared to the $750m we are shelling out for the new stadium, it’s hardly noticeable.

I only wish it could be so cold that they cancel the halftime show.

Spending tax money on stadiums has no economic benefit to people other than the billionaire owners of the team.

Maybe Indy did have a benefit from the Super Bowl, but for places like Miami it really doesn’t because all it really does is displace tourists who would otherwise be there.

The joke is that we’re actually still paying on the bonds issued to build the stadium they tore down to build the new stadium.

However it did result in the defeat of the noxious Dem mayor Bart Peterson.

You have to be pretty well off to go to a Super Bowl, between the airfare, hotel, meals, and miscellaneous expenses, then throw in the tickets, and you're into like seven or eight grand, maybe more.

Throw in some more if the NFL decides to change the day of the game. Unreal.

Most of the wealthy NYers who could afford these tickets, and would go to the game..go by limousine.

Also heard that IF you're fortunate enough to get a parking pass, you won't be allowed back in if you leave for any reason. Oh, and no tailgating. What fun!

This was a CHOICE by the NFL driven 100 % by $$$$$$$$$$$.

Of course. Everything the NFL does is driven by money. It would be interesting to get an inside view of the trail that led to the Wastelands.
