GOP focuses on empowering Americans, not gov’t

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers on Tuesday offered a kinder, gentler vision of Republicans who are determined to empower Americans, not the government, and close the gap “between where you are and where you want to be.”

Tapped to deliver the GOP response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address, McMorris Rodgers touched on the daily routines of average Americans that overshadow Washington, from kissing children goodnight to preparing for a doctor’s visit, and complained that Obama’s policies are making life harder.

The highest-ranking Republican woman in Congress said the GOP believes “in a government that trusts people and doesn't limit where you finish because of where you started. That is what we stand for—for an America that is every bit as compassionate as it is exceptional. Our plan is one that dreams big for everyone and turns its back on no one.” …

Yahoo had an article on an unemployed mom. There were 4800+ comments on the article. Freepers need to read the comments. Over 90 percent had the same theme - there are very little jobs. People out of work have been looking. Most are not lazy SOB. Many ended up with part time jobs that employed them temporarily and they had to find another job after losing one. Many had 2 to 3 jobs in a 6 to 12 month period. Obamacare and economic economy is murder. Unlike the BS unemployment numbers given, US is in a deep Depression with unemployment at 15 to 20 percent. For many the issue is no longer about taking or not taking a gov handout. It is about survival. Food stamps and unemployment benefits is the modern soup line of the Great Depression. Gov cannot cut it off without social ramification. It must be done carefully and results may vary state to state. Thus blanket demand to end it all may not be a wise move by GOP.

Sad to say, I thpught her delivery was poor...no, awful. I couldn’t listen to her, it was so stiff and unnatural.

Again, gop has to play politics instead of putting on the person who can make the strongest case in the most appealing, convincing manner.

I agree 100%. She sounded like she was speaking to a bunch of slightly retarded first graders. No one likes to be talked down to.

They should have someone like Ted Cruz. He isn't afraid to call a spade a shovel. When Odunbo lies he will call him on it.

Oh, I forget, the GOPe wants to get along with the Dems, even if it calls for destroying the rest of the Grand Experiment called the United States. May She rest in peace....

The GOP needs to wake up. You aren’t going to counter Obama’s give away programs with Illegal Alien Amnesty, H1B Visas, and Free Trade with Communist China. You can’t counter Obama unemployment by shipping jobs out of America or giving them to Illegals

StupidNomics just gets Democrats elected. GOP needs to dump their govt programs, embrace a real free American market

I’ve seen her speak. She actually thinks she knows what she’s talking about though she says really nothing. It’s what one would expect from a WA state person.
