Note: I wrote this back in September, I just wanted people to see this. If you havent heard that name yet, you should look it up. Who is he? Hes the Speaker of the House here in my home state of Oklahoma. Hes African-American and also a member of the Chickasaw Nation. First elected back in 2006 as the first Republican from his district in Lawton, OK, he has risen steadily through the ranks in his six years as a representative. First time I took serious notice of him was around late 2011 when the State House GOP were choosing a successor for then House Speaker Kris Steele a big establishment guy who was term-limited from running again. House GOP rank and file urged him to run and won over the Speakers chosen candidate. He was then elected officially Speaker at the start of the 2013-2014 legislative session here.
Before his election, the leadership didnt have strong relations with the House Republican caucus and always blocked bills from coming to a floor vote cause they were controversial like, banning Agenda 21 from being implemented in Oklahoma, banning sharia law and other such pieces of legislation. Also there was a huge fallout in 2012 during a debate to cut taxes which ultimately failed due to poor leadership and handling of differing proposals of how to go about it as well as failure to address much needed workers comp reform. After his election as Speaker, relations between rank and file and leadership improved dramatically.

TW has a lot of support. He is my choice. I’m glad Bridenstein decided to stay in the House. Jim can take Inhofe’s seat in a couple years. I don’t think Langford is a true conservative.
TW is the real deal.
Know him personally and he’s a world class individual.
Lankford has a conservative average of 79%.
ACU 84%, Heritage 79%, Club for Growth 80%, FreedomWorks 72%
Oklahoma can certainly do better!
Who’s the better known? That who OK will be for.
D.C. has never seen anything quite like T.W. Shannon. If he wins, buy a big bag of popcorn and get a good seat.
This will be fun to watch.
Lankford is no dummy either. About the only way we can lose this one is by destroying the guy that finishes in second place. I hope that doesn’t happen.
And that is precisely why I am losing optimism for turning around the decline of the Republic. Comments up thread such as "I don't think Lankford is a true conservative," are simply idiotic. The kind of ideological purity required to avoid the label of RINO is a product of thought police whose tactics (if not their beliefs) more properly belong on the totalitarian Left.
TW Shannon is an extraordinary individual as is James Lankford. My regret is that their supporters will attempt to eviscerate each other in the primaries. Frankly I was a little disappointed that Lankford announced because he has had a quick rise in the House leadership and could perhaps be more effective there.
I'll vote for whichever one of them wins the primary, but I pray that regardless of that outcome, the runner-up stays in the game.
I agree. 79% from the state of Oklahoma is like 25% from Massachusetts....no deal.
We need an Inhofe type junior Senator from Oklahoma.
TW Shannon is the man. He is who I am supporting. Follow this guy on facebook, he does a great job with updates and had a beautiful family.
100% behind Shannon since Jim isn’t running. This is an important race. Rove cannot get his way.
