Brian Lilley debunks the myth that a higher minimum wage is a good thing. Like many progressive ideas this one is sold to you not with facts, but with emotion, and it actually hurts the people it intends to help.

The intention is to drive more people into government dependence.
No, it doesn't--it is not intended to help lower wage earners. It is intended to help democrats get votes.
Take away their free healthcare, see how he feels about it then.
It also is a payoff to unions whose contracts provide for raises when the minimum wage goes up.
Correctamundo! It’s all for votes and succeeds because our public school system, like yours, is used for indoctrination, not education.
Sun News is amazing.
Amen to that
Thanks for posting Sun News!
Brian, Ezra, Michael....they DO say it all!
It's also designed to raise union wages.
Name the deadly sin that raising the minimum wage appeals to.
I have contacts out on the Alberta Oil Patch who tell me Tim Hortons is hiring clerks at $25/hr. CDN. Cause in a booming market, that’s what the current market rate is.
Is the Law of Demand really that difficult to understand? Raise the price, quantity demanded will fall. Until they pass a law ending scarcity, I’m afraid we are stuck with this painful reality that the “Reality Based Community” can’t quite grasp.
Sloth.
Not only that but as I learned in Econ 101. Minimum wage keeps union members employed. Say a skilled union member costs $10/hr. and say you would need 4 unskilled laborers to be as productive as the member. So in an unregulated market you might pay them $2/hr you come out ahead but if you have a minimum wage of $3/hr then you lose money so you just keep the union guy.
Raising the minimum wage serves three purposes.
1. It buys votes.
2. It gives a boost in wages for the coming hyper inflation.
3. Generates more tax revenue.
At least that’s the tards point of view.
No he has it wrong...the rich business owners can just give up some of their big profits to pay the little guys. (sarcasm) Bless my mother-in-law she actually believes this, but she is also only one of the 37 people who actually watch MSNBC.
Coveting thy neighbor’s wage.
where did you get the idea that health care in Canada is free...the average Canadian pays $6000.00 annually for health coverage...
In taxes... sure, so “free” is certainly in quotes. And $6,000 with no deductibles and no cap is a bargain for sure. My point is, without socialized healthcare, the Canadian economic landscape changes drastically. With socialized healthcare, there’s really no way to compare it to the U.S.
