photo DSCN0102_zpsb9ad81f2.jpg This was taken around 2 this afternoon. This is in Holmes County, FL. My high today was 25. This is sleet not snow.

Nice porch. It’s nice and deep compared to most porches these days.

I like to sit in a rocker with a binocular and watch whatever is in the pond across the road.

Didn’t bother doing that today tho.

That sounds lovely. Is there anything more peaceful?

"AMC Javelin"

In the day, those were great vehicles.

I specifically remember precision steering (could been helped by radials at relatively high pressures).

"This is sleet not snow. "

Better than both hail and freezing rain.

I say yes to that, I did.

Amazing even a Tampa newspaper doesn’t know that Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties lie to the EAST of Escambia (Pensacola), not west.

We’re the forgotten part of Florida (and the reddest!) and we kinda like it that way.

Back when the emissions regs were less stringent, I think they could mix and match drivetrains without as much need to do certification and durability tests to satisfy the fedgov.

The Eagle and the Jeep Cherokee of that era were really forerunners of today’s massive compact SUV wave.

Looks like a typical day this time of year back in Orange County, NY.

"today’s massive compact SUV wave."

I'd point out Power Wagons, Suburbans, IH Travelalls, Willy's Station Wagons and more that don't come immediately to mind.

The high was only 40 in Gainesville today but it wont drop much tonight with the cloud cover. Only predicting a low of 35. It was one of the coldest high temps that I can recall for the area.

Orlando’s high was in the low 50s. And it was in the 80s today in Miami.

Predicting a warm weekend in G ville with 80 on Saturday and Sunday.

"Orange County, NY."

Erie and Niagara Counties had significant Global Cooling back in the day.

So far, so good. Relatively low cost of living and beautiful weather.

Not a whole lot of land available to settle on anymore, what with the National Forest and the National Conservation Area and the National Research Ranch...ya start to get the picture.

83% of the state is Federal land. We’re trying to get that changed, but the Libs in Tucson make it tough.

Those were truck based body on frame rigs.

The Eagle and Cherokee are unibody predecessors of all the CUVs on the market now.

All of the news reporters had cars flying down the dry roads, behind them.”

Yesterday was just toooo funny. I listened for a while to many of them trying to do hour after hour on the old spin of why their forecast was so off. Got sick of hearing Ed Emmett give his little “err on the side of caution” rationale.

Someone did send in a Twitter question wondering how much money it cost the City to give the people the day off with pay but there was no response from the news staff.
