Speaking exclusively to KCAL9 political reporter Dave Bryan outside an engagement in Beverly Hills, Brown said it could be necessary to implement drastic measures to alleviate communities at risk of running out of water.

Whaddaya know, Obama even believes in redistributing water!
Never let a crisis go to waste Jerry!
I may be mistaken here But I thought someone in California voted for de salinization plants and the plans were stalled due to some manner of interference..already.
I’m in commifornia. They gov will spend hundreds of billions on a boondoggle of a high speed train but do nothing about a drought situation. Why not spend the billions on desalination plants?
Seems like one going, the second held up by tree (water?) huggers -
The signs at the protest meeting in Huntington Beach are about as honest as those of the OCCUPY “movement”
the I “Heart” sign ...was a hoot.
how about PEOPLE?
I guess desalinization isnt sharia compliant....
California has nice weather and beautiful scenery. The liberals love it. It also has millions of people. These people get in the way of the limousine liberals. The middle class in California need to leave so the actors can play on deserted beaches. Solitude is the new bling.
Now what kind of legacy would desalination plants be? Not nearly as pretty and obvious as Bullet trains to nowhere anybody in their right mind wants to go. And besides that spending the money on desalination plants would be thoughtful, logical and fiscally sound, not one of these is in moonbeams resume!
“He obviously cant make it rain,
So Brown is not a typical Barry supporter.
Desalination is less the issue than releasing water from reservoirs so that a bait fish in the delta is happy.
If people understood how much water has been wasted to make “environmentalists” happy.
Per usual, Victor Hansen has been all over this for years; i’m sure it’s been posted, but I’m too lazy to look, so here’s a link to his excelllent City Journal article from 2011 : http://www.city-journal.org/2011/21_3_california-water.html
Anyway, thei thing is, while the drought is a real, natural event, the current water shortage is entirely man-made. The environmentalist wackos who created that shortage need to be held accountable.
The MSM won’t do it. It’s up to teh intarwebz to spread the word.
Yup. An entirely self made problem.
Waiting for somebody to admit that damn fish that’s closed Central CA water, is NOT endangered.
“He obviously cant make it rain
Really? I thought The Obamanation WAS The Messiah and could do anything by just the wave of his hand! (sarc)
Dump the high speed rail and put the money to building reverse osmosis plants! Why are they so dumb.
The desalinization concept was a good idea prior to March 11th, 2011. Build a big nuclear power plant and use the excess power to run the desalinization plant to provide fresh water. That approach is dead now. The Pacific ocean is full of radionuclides from the ongoing releases at Fukushima. The desalinization process can not remove the tritium, cesium 134/137, strontium 90 and plutonium from the water. There isn't an excess of power to run a desalinization plant either. It was a great idea whose time has passed.
