Democrats: Cede the House to save the Senate

With Democrats’ grasp on the Senate increasingly tenuous — and the House all but beyond reach — some top party donors and strategists are moving to do something in the midterm election as painful as it is coldblooded: Admit the House can’t be won and go all in to save the Senate.

Their calculation is uncomplicated. With only so much money to go around in an election year that is tilting the GOP’s way, Democrats need to concentrate resources on preserving the chamber they have now. Losing the Senate, they know, could doom whatever hopes Barack Obama has of salvaging the final years of his presidency. Continue Reading

The triage idea is taking hold in phone conversations among donors and in strategy sessions between party operatives. Even some of the people who have invested the most to get House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi back into the speaker’s chair are moving in that direction.

“There is no question that Democratic donors are shifting towards the Senate in 2014. They will continue to support Nancy, but everyone agrees that the emphasis is going to be on the Senate,” said Joe Cotchett, a prominent San Francisco trial attorney and friend of Pelosi’s who has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Democratic Party candidates and causes. “When you see people like [longtime California Democratic Rep.] George Miller announcing that they are not running again, you know where the money will be going.”

" Nope.

Democrats."

Well, that's a relief. I was starting to think that Freepers had lost their sense of paranoia for a minute. Good to see that I was wrong.

Tell me why I should trouble myself with voting for the GOP in November?

Go ahead and sell them to me.

The GOP is in chaos. Washington is in chaos.

Legislators have lobbyists write the laws and staff to read them. They vote whichever way their "handlers" tell them. They say and do whatever their "sponsors" want. They live in luxury and retire as multimillionaires.

The system no longer works. It was a pipe-dream from a bygone era when men of character were common. It's not that way anymore.

Hey, if you want the DEMs to win, more power to you. If you aren’t willing or able to campaign for a candidate suitable to you, then I guess you get what you deserve. Oh, and thanks for sticking that to the rest of us.

Snip: Losing the Senate, they know, could doom whatever hopes Barack Obama has of salvaging the final years of his presidency completing his mission to finish the destruction of our country.

They won't have to cede the House after the GOP passes amnesty! Boner and others are already working on forfeiting the next round of elections because:

I’m sorry, I’m not voting for anyone because they aren’t the other guy anymore.

Because they are the other guy.

You can be insane if you want to, I’m not going to.

Incidentally, I noticed that you CAN’T sell me on why I should vote for the GOP.

You certainly are not going to guilt me into voting for them.

So again, tell my why I should trouble myself voting with voting for the GOP this November.

I’ll be waiting.

If the Senate flips to the GOP, I hope that there will be a LOT of investigations into this administrations’ illegal activities. Further, I want there to be a series of impeachments, not against Obama, but against the several players that surround Obama.

This can be used as leverage like a DA uses against drug dealers. Go after the little fish and use them to testify against the big fish and potential 2016 candidates. Use the threat of impeachment or actual impeachment to remove a senator or two from states controlled by GOP governors. Use this now larger Senate majority to pass some constitutional amendments.

Another democrat shell game to distract simpleton republicans.
Then democrats concentrate on the exact opposite of what they and their media butt-buddies say.

Not sure why you are posting her then. Your life is a waste.

With conservatives these days, it's all or nothing. Well, guess what? You're getting nothing. If you aren't willing to play the progressives games and incrementally taking back part of this country, do us a favor and just leave the country.

It saddens me to think that if today's conservatives were around at the start of WW II for the US, they would have given up because the results weren't obtained quickly enough.

The Republicans had all but secured the Senate in 2012 before the convention, but completely botched the general election by failing to plan a unified national ticket. Each race was left to its own, and Romney offered no coattails to support the local State races.

The GOP went from a gain of 7 to a loss of 2 in the last two months. Can they do it again in 2014?

This ccould allow us to build a massive majority in the House AND take the Senate. No amount of money is going to save Pryor and Co.

Yes, yes you should insult me personally since you can’t sell me on any single positive reason to vote for your party.

I’m not voting for LIARS any more. I’m not supporting LIARS anymore.

Quite frankly, I’d rather watch the whole thing go down in flames than to participate in the farce anymore.

If you want to trouble yourself with voting for LIARS come this November, then ball all means, knock yourself out.

Furthermore, it is your life that is a waste, because you rabidly support something and can’t even name a single reason why. You are quite simply a brain washed fool.

Pitiful.

Without the GOP saying a word, support for Obamacare is plummeting. Once the wave of canceled employer based plans hits the fan, Rats are going to be running for cover.

After the Labor Day recess is time enough to crucify Rats who voted for Obamacare and who continue to defend it.

That’s not good enough. I guess you didn’t hear the latest Dem spin: those are not “cancellations”. They are “changes”.

You need a steady drip drop to destroy the Dem brand. Like the Dems did to Bush. They ground him down into nothing over the years.

All the Dems have to do to keep the Senate is win a few seats by bamboozling their low info base again. That’s not difficult.

The GOP doesn’t have the MSM in their corner. They need a consistent message. We need to hear loud and clear on a weekly basis from every single GOPer: Obamacare is hurting millions of people and the Dems are doing nothing to help them.

Going sidebar on amnesty or giving up issues like the IRS/NSA is a sure fire loser straregy for the GOP.

It’s the same folks running the GOP show. I wouldn’t bet against that happening again.
