Immigration Reform Will Send GOP Into Electoral Abyss
Investors Business Daily ^ | 1/30/14 | IBD Editorials

Seeking Hispanic votes they'll never get, Republicans might well ruin what could be one of their greatest electoral triumphs ever. Cheap labor now isn't worth a permanent socialist electorate tomorrow.

'Those are my principles," Groucho Marx once said, "and if you don't like them? Well, I have others." Business should stand for the rule of law. It should also stand for sustaining economic liberty in America's long-term future.

Both principles argue against amnesty for America's estimated 11 million illegal aliens, which would reward them for violating the law and let them pull the U.S. electorate still further to the left.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other big-business interests prefer another "principle." In two words: cheap labor. Their pressure on the Republican Party is heavy, but it's really pressure to take delayed poison.

They are gambling and doubling down on bad odds. They think I’ll hold my nose and vote for their preselected GOP candidate they forced through Iowa, South Caroline, New Hampshire and Nevada.

They are in for an eye opener. I won’t - ever again.

Indeed an understatement.

I have already 1) changed my registration from Republican to Independent, 2) ceased any donations to Republicans, 3) vented my opinions to those Republican groups seeking donations from me (good way to practice continuous four-letter vocablulary), and 4) begun aiding real conservatives.

GOP...RNIP/DDD (rest NOT in peace/die, die, die!)

The Big Boys don’t care about the rest of us nor the long term implications, they feel secure regardless. Huge mistake

It will send this country into the abyss, especially without assimilation. You can’t reward lawbreakers above your own citizens.

Tens of millions of conservatives will walk away if the GOP passes
amnesty. The GOP will be dead.

Won’t be “holding my nose” ever again either. I’ve supported Eric Cantor for 12 years. Never again. I’m voting for the dem who runs against him to help insure his loss.

When a critical mass of “cheap labor” Hispanics begin forming powerful unions and then electing politicians to impose a smorgasbord of mandatory benefits on business....I am gonna go stand in front of the Chamber of Commerce Building and LAUGH my A*S off!!!

nothing the rat party wants more than a minority pub party plus another minority conservative party....they'll win every time...

you have to ask yourself, WHY?....why do this?...

I love for the most part immigrants...they can come here legally and we are the most accepting country in the world to take in immigrants...

so why make all these illegals legal?....

is it about SS and the federal tax burden?...are TPTB now realizing we're heading to catastrophe with our ponzi scheme SS?...

maybe the whole thing is we're going to be just one big country...Mexico...US...Canada....one currency....ruled by our betters...

what is the payoff for these traitors?....and anyone who would destroy our country is a traitor....

The GOP will be dead because of millions of voters will be abandoned and the amnesty’ed Mexicans will vote demonrat.
Also, I remember when the magic number of illegals was around 35 or 40 million. Then the number went to 11 million. Everyone in power just accepted that number.
If amnesty is granted, that 11 million will magically turn into 60 million come election day.
We will be outnumbered and left out in the cold. And the repubs will be the ones who did this to us.

We did not want Obamacare, and you Neo-Democrat RINOs gave it to us anyway, and we are the worse for it.

We DO want you to enforce existing Federal Border Laws.

WE DO NOT WANT IMMIGRATION REFORM ! You gave us that in 1986, and we are the worse for it!

Now y’all say that “we need to cave in this year to Obama on Immigration Reform.”

This is the same GEE OH PEE pablum that you Neo-Democrat RINOs have been always been feeding to the gullible, low information voters.

McCain, McConnell, Cornyn, Boehner, Cantor, and Ryan are always “waiting for massive support from the Public” before they even consider doing a pitched battle with the enemy.

The “enemy” is y’a’ll caving in to Obama! Just enforce existing Border Laws!

Y’all go on TV to publicly beat y’alls chests, and then “reach across the aisle to y’alls good friends in order to get something done.”

You Neo-Democrat RINOs will never lead, will always wait for a groundswell of Public discontent before risking incurring the wrath of their most dreaded enemy: The Leftstream Media.

Note to all the Congressional RINO leaders: We gave y’all in 2010 what y’all said y’all were waiting for - - - - The Massive TEA Party Rebellion, and y’all fought us every step of the way, and are fighting us now more than ever!

We gave y’all the support that y’all asked for and y’all betrayed us!

Betray us once, shame on you. Betray us twice, shame on us!

LEAD, OR GET OUT OF OUR WAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, we have long memories, and just so y’all know, RINO SEASON IS NOW OPEN AND THERE ARE NO BAG LIMITS !

Thing is that there is already a pool of “cheap labor” here in the US.

It’s called “the unemployed.”

Who are actively being subsidized in their unemployment by big gvt welfare policies.

Take away the incentives to remaining unemployed, and watch how fast all those available “cheap labor” positions are filled by people already legally here. Removing the need for immigrant labor.

That principles paper is just PR misdirection. So later Boehner and Ryan can say: “We really wanted to give everyone papers but as you know we have a teabagger problem. Just elect more moderate GOPers and we will fix that problem.”

Cantor’s bill and the Chamber of Commerce goodies bill are the real deal. Watch what happens with those.

What if their motivation is totally different?

What if the are not interested in being in the majority or in bringing new republicans into office. And if their money a power & position comes from somewhere other than the electorate, and that source is interested in amnesty for reasons other than voting?

It’s not as if they put good people in leadership positions. It’s not as if they’re not going to run Romney again, its not as if boner isn’t out their spreading hatred and resentment about Ted Cruz

Ted Cruz points out that am Seth would be a problem for the future of the party. My take away from that is to notice how they are willing to destroy the party

Without term limits people like McCain boner graham have a seat regardless of what’s happening g with the party

Whom they work for is the only mystery. But they don’t care about the party being in power. It suits them when it isn’t

Look at cornyn. He has to do hearings on the IRS with Cruz. If he doesn’t be looks super bad/lazy next to the other schleps at the resort retreat. Cruz is working making them look bad. Good for us. But they prefer to not work. And in most cases against what it is their handlers want them to be doing

It’s time to write/fax/email/call our US Congressmen again - they are making another attempt to harm America with amnesty & open borders!

Tell them to vote NO! on any immigration bill and that what is listed below is what we need to do ASAP to protect America and preserve her freedom from illegal aliens/criminals:

1) Secure our borders
2) Enforce existing law
3) Not allow any amnesty provisions of any kind
4) Improve our visa system
5) Prosecute and fine those businesses which knowingly employ illegal workers
6) Give law enforcement officials the necessary resources and authority to combat illegal immigration
7) Deport illegal aliens violating the law after being fingerprinted, photographed, iris scanned, charged with a felony, and their information placed in a national database.
8) Send a bill for deportation/prison costs to the embassy of the illegal immigrant’s national origin.
9) 2nd time and thereafter repeat offenses by illegal aliens should be sent to work prison camps for a maximum of 6 months - building the southern fence/wall.
10) Seize and liquidate all assets from illegal aliens and use the proceeds for our military and local law enforcement.
11) Must not give illegal immigrants government welfare benefits of any kind, including Social Security
12) Designate English as our national language
13) Change the 14th Amendment regarding birthright citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants
14) Put pressure on the Mexican government and other nations to reduce illegal immigration to America.
15) Encourage only legal immigration and citizenship to for those wanting to become Americans.

These ENFORCED changes would strengthen America greatly.

Any elected official (especially Republicans) who can’t see this are either incompetent, stupid, or evil - or a combination of all three - and need to be voted out ASAP and replaced with true Constitutional conservatives.

The US CofC promotes amnesty because their members demand cheap labor.

How long does the Chamber or its members thing that labor will stay cheap once amnesty passes? Never mind the thousand other reasons that amnesty would be a REALLY BAD thing. Do any of those employers actually think about how amnesty would devastate their bottom line?

(somewhat off topic but no one ever brings this up)

Same here. I'm now an independent. I will not support a party that wants to destroy this country. If they want to reward large companies for their donations or piss away their power in the blind hope that the newly-minted citizens will vote them, they deserve to lose, because they are no better than the Democrats.

...I never believed in staying home on election day to “teach a lesson”. Lately, I’ve been voting for the guy that would do the least damage. Always a Republican but rarely one that I would put in 1st place for whatever office. Got stuck with Romney in ‘12. Got stuck with McCain in ‘08. No more “least amount of damage” voting for me. Now, Cantor is pulling more than his fair share of RINOism and I’m through with him as well. At least if I vote for the dem, I know what I’m getting.
