Rep. Henry Waxman: The reason I’m leaving Congress
Washington Post ^ | 02/01/2014 | Rep. Henry A. Waxman

Posted on 02/01/2014 7:36:05 AM PST by SeekAndFind

I announced this past week that I will be retiring after having the honor of serving my Los Angeles constituents in Congress for 40 years.

Immediately, speculation began that I am leaving because I am frustrated with a broken institution. But the exact opposite is true: I am leaving Congress with my conviction intact that the legislative branch can be a powerful force for good.

Of course there are aspects of the current Congress that I abhor. This past week, every Republican on the Energy and Commerce Committee, where I have served most of my career, voted to limit the Environmental Protection Agency’s ability to regulate carbon pollution that is causing climate change. When my colleague Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) offered a simple amendment affirming that climate change is real, they voted against that, too.

That kind of mindless denial of science is an embarrassment.

Voting over and over to repeal the Affordable Care Act, shutting down the government and threatening default are other deplorable examples of the extremism of tea party Republicans.

It is regrettable this tool will get a Congressional Pension out of this.

Congratulations, catcher. You actually turned Washington into your personal homosexual whorehouse.

AND YOUR OWN DISTRICT IS A DISASTER.

Your own people are out of work, businesses shut down, small business collapsing, big business moving elsewhere, tax base eroding...

Because all you do,

All you have ever done,

is suck.

See ya bitch.

Throwing the blame around, Henry? What did you ever do to promote unity?

Frankly, I don’t give a damn about Waxman’s reason for leaving Congress. The important point is that the sonovabitch is leaving. That is all that truly matters.

RE: he important point is that the sonovabitch is leaving.

What worries me is WHO replaces him. Sandra Fluke would be worse.

Waxman is full of sour grapes and obviously not a statesman (still griping about the opposition).

Few think like statesmen anymore. Many smear and claw to the bitter end.

All I can say to Waxman is this: "Don't let the door hit you on the way out".

Henry says he’s not frustrated? Crap!

You can read frustration in everything he writes about Republican actions in congress.

Sandra Fluke would be worse.

I rather doubt that, but only because Waxman set the bar so low....

Oh, Let's see.

Let's outlaw Carbon emissions for Human beings. How would you feel about that Congressman Waxman?

Fluke has no experience, chats only on women topics, has a 4-line resume, and will have access to a fair amount of big-name hollywood funding.

There has to be a dozen local Democrats who have done time in the state legislature, local county gov’t, or been a mayor for some town in the area....who have a better possibility to win.

The thing I see....Waxman just barely won on the last election. There’s a strong independent stance in the district....with hostility brewing over the economy and the health act. A decent independent could win the district.

You’d need some retired NFL player...I hate suggesting a Troy Ackman-type character....but he’d likely win in this district.

What the hell does that mean anyway? Climate change is real? The temperature goes up, that is climate change. The temperature goes down, that is climate change. Where is the science in that? What does that prove? These scientists have already missed on the degree of temperature rise over the last 17 years, but trust them they know what they are doing?

That kind of mindless denial of science is an embarrassment.

Waxsnot has worked tirelessly with his comrades to compromise the integrity of science so they will have a fig leaf to hide behind. Henry, we don't believe you, Obama, or your bought, paid-for and made-to-order so called "science".

The MSM has been very busy quoting every celebrity they can find who believes that climate change is caused by Man so they can create a huge market for carbon credits that can be sold, bought and traded for profit. Always follow the money.
