Skip to comments.GOP insiders back Rubio in 2016
Posted on 02/01/2014 12:13:09 PM PST by Hojczyk
Sen. Marco Rubios (R-Fla.) political stock is rated a buy by major Republican fundraisers in Washington, who are bullish on Rubios future as a 2016 presidential candidate.
A group of Republican fundraising heavyweights and wise men in Washingtons business community are solidly behind Rubio, and see him not only as someone who could win the White House, but someone they can work with.
The fundraisers include Bill Paxon, a former New York lawmaker who is now a senior adviser at Akin Gump; Dirk Van Dongen, the president of the National Wholesalers Association; and Wayne Berman, a big-time donor with a knack for picking winning candidates in presidential primaries. All three are a party of the business wing of the Republican Party that has clashed with the Tea Party. Their support for Rubio suggests they seem him as a possible ally going forward.
Political strategists think Rubios chances of winning the GOP nomination in 2016 are looking better because of the bridge scandal embroiling New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Rep. Paul Ryans (R-Wis.) decision to forego a White House bid to aim for the gavel of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee.
Marco Rubio is very much in the top tier of potential Republican candidates. Anyone who says otherwise hasnt looked at any data and doesnt understand the dynamics of the Republican primary, said Whit Ayres, a Republican pollster who counts Rubio as one of his clients. Look at who votes. Its very difficult to make the case that Chris Christie has a better chance winning the primary than Rubio.

...and because Richard Nixon is dead, and Charles Manson is still in prison.
Hillary vrs Jeb
we lose either way
/I’ve called the last three correctly
//I’ll be offering wagers after the end of the year
And because the government controls the alphabet media.
Join the circular firing squad now, and avoid the rush!
Yeah, the stealth RINO.
He’ll be the R version of Obama. Perceived as charming/attractive/articulate/minority. Did I mention, clean? Just not enough experience to step into the White House.
Rubio is like a child star who becomes a has-been at nine. He’s already finished.
You forgot “not a trace of Cuban accent.”
//and Jeesh does she have an accent!
///it’s actually quite charming, particularly when she does a $arah Palin impersonation
I'm a Tea Partier - am I a GOP "outsider"? Probably.
Rubio won’t hold up to the scrutiny of a national election campaign. He gives an OK speech but isn’t very bright, talented or principled.
She she have a squad of illegal servants, like Laura and Bar? That was something I found particularly hard to take, the Boosh RINO wives an their promotion of amnesty so that they could have house slaves, on the el cheapo...
Remember: it’s all about money.
Nothing else matters.
FUMR!! FUGOPe!! NO AMNESTY PUSHERS!!
Link or links, please.
Never trust an amnesty-pusher.
Cruz is my choice.
He is a lightweight.
Not to mention unpredictable. He’s a sucker for becoming Schumer’s gopher on amnesty.
He’s a doofus who couldn’t plan ahead, nor put a staff together to get him out of his own way in addressing the nation after the State of the Union last year. He recited his whole speech in Spanish before addressing the nation. What a maroon!
He is a gopher for the highest bidder, or any bidder.
He supported Ted Cruz in the filibuster by speaking for a few minutes - on “The Godfather”, a soap opera tragedy about a group of criminals. not even one virtuous character in the story.
And he has a bad combover and flashes that creep teeth grin after he talks about everything.
He’s commenting on Justin Bieber today. Can you imagine, with the president actively trying to tear down every pillar, any senator even has time to stop for a camera, he’s opining on Justin Beiber? Oh, and then flashing his teeth.
He would open the flood gates for immigration with no parameters, he would do anything the dem senators to ld him to do.
He has a bachelors degree in history, or something, and a law degree, with which he had simply a political career.
Hillary, or ANY serial criminal, they send up for nomination, will devour him in five minutes, no more.
And he won’t go back in.
Of course the GOP likes him. He’ll lose.
Be careful of 1rude. He’s a troll.
Bush, Bush, Dole, Bush, Bush, McCain and Romney. He's right.

The establishment GOP attacks and threatens the Tea Party. Maybe it is time to do the same to them. Tell the GOP that they promote a true Tea Party approved conservative or they will face a Tea Party third party candidate in 2016. Telling them that they will lose the conservative vote again and lose again is not enough. They don’t get the message. A third conservative party will make it clear.
I’m sure they do.
He’s done one Hell of a bang up job ;/
Anyway, chris37 damn sure don’t.
Go back under your bridge.
And get a job.
No Shamnesty whores,
Dude, I don’t even know who you are, but your comments on this thread simply scream, “internet butthurt.”
I’m not sure they’re right. Rubio is very intelligent and well spoken, and I don’t think that’s the kind of candidate they want. Besides, it’s not his “turn” yet.
The GOP always runs retreads who are just hacks who have been around for a long time and whose “turn” eventually comes. Witness McCain. Heck, witness Romney, although it was aided in his case by the fact that he was willing to spend millions of his own to buy a run.
Personally, I think it’s going to be Romney again.
What exactly has Senator Rubio done that proves he has #1 what it takes to be our chief executive and #2 that he can actually produce smaller government as leader of the so-called party of small government? The man is a relative newbie out of Florida, but he does have that amnesty pimp thing going for him. I’ll give him that. Meh!
The 1/2 of the Republicans that support him are stupid.
I definitely would NOT take you up on that bet. Hillary vs. Jeb? That’s not even a toss up.
Has your mommy taken you in now that your UI has run out?
I’m a Washington-Jefferson conservative - an America first no foreign entangling alliance advocate. Both parties are running world entangling, trade deficit candidates. Clinton vs Rubio ‘what difference does it make’. I’m voting Third. There is usually someone there so I don’t waste my vote.
How do you think that would turn out?
Another little hint
GW speaks better Spanish than he speaks English. And Bar used to boast that she never cooked a meal for her family.
The GOPe will stop at nothing to keep Cruz from sweeping the South in the primaries.
Huckabee, Jeb, Rubio, Perry. They’re pulling out all the stops this time around, and they’re starting early.
GW never had a driver’s license until he was 26.
Always had a “driver.”
And Don’t feed the troll. 1rude just shows up to cause arguments.
why? amnesty. not surprising.
Your can ‘o’ soup is warmed up.
It can only be considered a “circular firing squad” if the shooters (or accuser) are GOP Establishment supporters who back the RINO Wing of the Republican Party.
Ok, so you have nothing either. As I suspected.
Darn, I gotta leave.
Unlike yourself, I have both a social life and a wife...and She Will Not Be Kept Waiting.
Be nice to the innocent.
Oh, you actually called that one for Jeb. Sorry, but Jeb can’t help himself. He’s another amnesty pimp who would demoralize Republicans and lower turnout. That would make three losers in a row for our team, because even Hillary won’t scare Republican voters enough to drag themselves to the polls. We need someone who we can enthusiastically vote for, not another moderate who can’t wait to sell us out (again).
No, the source of that comment was the fact that, years before the election, we’re supposed to start yapping like dogs over something someone wrote on the Hill. And if you look at the thread, we’ve found at least one retard.
Ted Cruz is much more articulate. In fact, Cruz is probably the most articulate one of the bunch on both sides of the aisle.
Rather than focus on this candidate or that one, for the GOP-TP OR the GOP-e, I think the agenda here should be:
Maximize the number of GOP-e candidates in the mix at any one point, and minimize the number of GOP-TP candidates at any one time.
Need to spread the GOP-e like butter, and focus on the GOP-TP to get him or her to the finish line, nomination and election.
At least up until now, the GOP-e appears more adept at marshaling their RINO candidates such that they weaken TPs and strengthen -e’s.
