In his first cable TV appearance since becoming mayor, Bill de Blasio paid a visit to Rev. Al Sharptons MSNBC show, where the two chatted about the end of the citys appeal against a prominent stop-and-frisk ruling, Hillary Clintons potential presidential campaign and a top Sharpton aides role in the de Blasio administration.
Unsurprisingly, the two behaved like old friends. Mr. de Blasio thanked Mr. Sharpton for leading an anti stop-and-frisk rally, while Mr. Sharpton hailed the new mayor as a rare politician who could keep his word.
Your election was seen as an inspiration to progressives across the country, Mr. Sharpton said, proceeding to quote extensively from a New York Times story that called him a national liberal leader. Do you think other cities will also change their police department based on whats happening in New York and look at reform?
I hope we set a good example, this is a historic moment for this city, Mr. de Blasio replied, referring to his announcement today that the city would be dropping its appeal of a federal ruling that found the NYPDs use of stop-and-frisk unconstitutional. If this historic agreement helps to encourage others, well God bless, thats an even better day then.
Mr. de Blasio has been a frequent guest at Mr. Sharptons National Action Networks events since his election and the two have been close political allies during the start of the new mayors administration. Earlier this month, Mr. de Blasio announced that a top Sharpton aide, Rachel Noerdlinger, had been hired as his wife Chirlane McCrays chief of staff. (This afternoon, Ms. Noerdlinger released a statement on Mr. Sharptons behalf praising Mr. de Blasios stop-and-frisk announcement. She is set to begin her new job Monday, according to a City Hall spokesmanthough she has already been spotted accompanying Ms. McCray to events.)
Speaking about Ms. Noerdlingers hire, Mr. Sharpton noted that the citys press corps seems to question the role that Ms. McCray will play in his administrationwhich remains unclear.
Everything weve done, weve done together. We met in City Hall, replied Mr. de Blasio. Shes the first person I turn to for advice and guidance in everything I do. So I am proud of the role she plays, I think the people of this city love her as their first lady and Im glad she has a fantastic chief of staff coming in, Im glad you trained Rachel Noerdlinger so well.
People I think just need to recognize, weve said throughout shes my partner, shes the most important voice in my life, he continued. Were just going to continue in that vein and I think most people in New York City get that and appreciate that.
Mr. Sharpton then turned to national politics, asking Mr. de Blasio if he believed Hillary Clinton should run for president. Mr. de Blasio, who managed Ms. Clintons 2000 U.S. Senate campaign, declined to say whether he believed she should run but maintained Ms. Clinton would make a fantastic president.
I know shed be a great president, I know that, said the mayor. Shell make her own decision, I can only affirm you one thing, having spent a year of my life shoulder to shoulder with her, shed make a fantastic president.
OMG. What is wrong with DiBlaze? Does he wish he were born black, or what? He only knows how to consult with or consort with radical blacks? He has no significant white inputs? The more I hear about him, the more I think he is some sort of a nut.
In all likely hood, most of the work Rudy did to clean up the city will be quickly un done and it will turn into a larger version of Detroit.
I don’t disagree. This guy really seems like he regrets being born white and can hardly wait to turn the city over to radical blacks.
Ditto for William Ayers.
The pair of the century: A Commie and a Con Artist. But I’m being redundant.
How about, an Ideological fanatic and a huckster?
New York: You just got double butt-f*cked!
Dopes dont realize the front line is in the black nieghborhoods. They are agreeing to cut off thier nose inspite of thier faces. enjoy!

I can appreciate DeBlasio’s candor; rather than tiptoe in the shadows dealing with $harpton he is public about the relationship - it dispels any illusions about what he is. Here in northern NJ this may bode well; a lot of money and educated people fled NYC to NJ the last time they had a radical left-wing government (Dinkins).
If you own a business and you’re still in NYC then you should start planning your escape.
In a year NYC will be over run with freeloaders, crime and rot. Taxes will climb higher than ever.
That says all you need to know about the guy.
The voters of new york deserve whatever comes their way since electing this moron, good luck and don’t whine.
Welcome to “Escape from New York: Part II”.
You’re gonna need all the conservative votes you can get.
The red left has swarmed New Hampshire, Vermont, some of Maine, all of Rhode Island and eastern Massachusetts.
The New York City Council and Mayoralship are now in communist hands.
This year will either be Bastogne or the Alamo. keep your powder dry.
“Welcome to Escape from New York: Part II. Youre gonna need all the conservative votes you can get.”
This will be the third wave; the first was in the 60s & 70s (the Fort Apache days) - these were probably the last conservatives to leave NYC. The second was during the Dinkins administration - mainly white liberals fleeing Mau Maus. The DeBlasio wave will be the remaining lib remnant that doesn’t want to pay into the redistribution till.

They hold a lot of NJ as well, but they are more like National Socialists than Bolsheviks. Socially liberal, but racist - a holdover from fleeing NYC decades ago.

It will probably most resemble an Alamo where rather than winning militarily, the remaining Anglos hire Hispanics to guard the walls of the mission against the Hispanics outside...
