Posted on 02/02/2014 5:49:24 AM PST by rktman
Tonight is not whether people should or should not own guns, Sawyer insisted.
ABCs Diane Sawyer and David Muir joined forces Friday night for their 20/20 special, Young Guns, traveling to neighborhoods in which guns are a presence in the home in their effort to characterize guns as threats to children, rather than tools of self-defense. As youll see, the producers anti-gun agenda was apparent from the start.
First, the journalists conducted a little experiment to discover the obvious: kids like playing with guns.

LIttle Chuckie will likely end up a Knock-out Game losing contestant at the best, a dead fool on the ground at the worst.
If guns kill people, then mine are defective. Should I ask for my money back?
This story reminds me of an old saying. “Figures don’t lie but liars figure.” ABC is a pathetic excuse for a journalist enterprise as are most of the mainstream media.
Knives, guns and climbing trees. We made sure that our boys learned the proper use of knives early. We encouraged them to climb trees but never helped them and at first stood watch. When they started scouts we encouraged them to get their merit badges in use of rifle and shotgun. Our oldest achieved his junior NRA rating. We talked to them about gun safety. They knew that they could call home anytime and come home. One of our sons did call home when he did not like the movies that were being played at a sleep over. I’m sure he was teased later but hey. It’s all called parenting.
Statistically speaking it’s still riskier for your children’s safety to have a swimming pool in your backyard than a gun in your house. Where are the cries for pool control?
Teasing? I think they call that bullying now a days. ;>}
I think “they” just called for a ban on private swimming pools in Australia. What’s next, ya gotta be 18 to go in the ocean/lake/river/pond?
And I think their doing a pretty good job of it, considering how gullible most people are.
ABC News Story Hides Guns in Candy in Classroom to Push Gun Control
by AWR Hawkins 28 Jan 2014
On January 27, ABC World News aired a segment on kids and guns in which they placed two unloaded handguns on a table and drew children to them by telling them there was candy where the weapons were.
Diane Sawyer introduced the video as part of a report on “groundbreaking news” based on a Yale University study on “American children and guns” that claims every hour one child in America ends up in the hospital as a result of gunshot wounds.
Sawyer’s co-host David Muir narrated an experiment at an elementary school in Florida where seven hidden cameras were set up in what appeared to be a first grade classroom. They showed the kids NRA Eddie Eagle videos on gun safety and had a policeman talk to them about avoiding guns.
They then placed two unloaded handguns on a table “and [told] the kids they [were] there for a memory test.” The teacher then told the kids she had to leave the classroom “for a second, but that there [was] candy on the table.” There were numerous toys and crayons on the table, as well.
After the teacher left the children alone in the room for approximately ten minutes, two of the kids who had migrated to the candy, crayons, and toys picked up one of the real handguns and looked at it from all angles.
The camera then panned back to Muir and Sawyer in the studio, and Muir suggested parents ask their neighbors if they have “a gun in the home” and “whether it’s locked, loaded, or put away.”
When I was a child I didn’t know a household that didn’t have at least one gun..
and in all those years no child was shot by their father’s gun..
One 16 year old boy was shot when he and friends were out shooting one day but that was carelessness on the other teenagers part and not due to his father owning a gun...
a group of high school boys were climbing through a fence one by one and the boy behind the injured boy had a loaded rifle..It discharged and got the boy in the back..
The boy was paralyzed and eventually lost his legs..
He was a lot older than I was but I remember him years later driving a car especially modified for him...he did everything with his hands...
He learnt the trade of boot repair and supported himself after his parents died...I don’t know if he received any government help but he was expected to work...
He was the only young person shot in our town except for the girl who was murdered ...
we all grew up with guns...and nobody took one to school...
Oh and it wasn’t a terrorist act to draw guns and tanks and planes shooting flaming death...
What is a work here with the children is: they have been warned about the dangerous nature of an inanimate object. To satiate their curiosity they intincively violate the rules laid out for them to see exactly what they are dealing with.
My children are well acquainted with all of my firearms. The have held them and “played” with them under my supervision. Then we went out and discharged each of them. That was the moment that they determined that they were in fact, not toys.
My children do not lust after my weapons, nor are they disposed to use them as toys. They understand exactly what they are and what they can do.
In this instance, the warning about what was to be done if they found such a thing was the incentive to investigate it for themselves.
I refuse to watch Diane Sawyer or ABC, NBC or CBS news so I missed it. Did they go to Chicago where the murder rate is disgusting despite some of the toughest gun laws in the country? Democrats create slummy welfare neighborhoods where gangs grow and the only way residents get what the working class gets is through violence. By dishing out the welfare checks for over 40 years Democrats have taught minorities to become pawns of the government rather than trying to work to get ahead. The smarts ones left the “hood” and did exactly that - got ahead. Diane should do a story on the results of decades of welfare and vote-buying by Democrat programs like the New Deal and Great Society.
I looks like ABC is just doing the bidding of their masters in Washington.
Isn't this exactly what state run and/or controlled media is supposed to do?
That s how it worked in the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. And seems to be working here.
LOL! I don’t watch those “news” outlets either but seem to remember reading about this “experiment” before. Oh well. A lot of the slummy welfare neighborhoods started out pretty nice but since nobody had to work for them the didn’t much care about them and the decay came quickly. A friend and co-worker grew up in one of the New Orleans housing project when they were first built. He said they were really nice in the beginning but his family made their way out as the decay set in and destroyed them. (the projects that is)
Dana Loesch of the Blaze TV has a good response.
“The overwhelming majority of young gun deaths come from gangs.” This the typical way that the gun grabbers continue to lie by lumping in gang members up to age 20 in the “child death” stats.
Dana Loesch takes on ABC’s “Young Guns” | Dana
Some of those “child” stats go to 24 years old or even older.
"Cannot have it both ways.. Obama says teenagers now 26 years old.. time to get off your parents health insurance.. by iamnothere Posted April 12, 2012"
I do not know anyone that lost a child from “playing with a gun” but I know someone that lost her twin that drowned in their pool.
Remember NBC Dateline fraud?
Dateline NBC, rigged GMC tanks so they would explode on impact.
dateline gm trucks 1993
ABC world news tonight with diane sawyer has nothing to do with world news and everything to do with rehashed od sh## from the days news and agenda driven regime crap.
I cannot grasp how a woman who I think grew up in Kentucky & has NEVER had a child can drip such anger towards a gun owner.
She lives in her own Ivory Tower and has other people guarding her at every turn. Life of privilege & money sure creates a disconnect, doesn’t it.??
Even when I lived in the city, I couldn’t count on a police response faster than 7-9 minutes. In the meantime, what is happening to me when an invader wants o harm me??
The govenment has bent and shaped little Chuckie’s mind to suit it’s purpose.
Diane Sawyer Flashback: Sipping Wine & Popping Pills Before Primetime Live Broadcast
Posted on Nov 7, 2012 @ 7:30AM
By Amber Goodhand Radar News Editor
Veteran news anchor Diane Sawyer prompted speculation that she was drunk during Tuesday nights election coverage with her slurred speech and erratic behavior, and RadarOnline.com has unearthed old footage of Diane in which shes seen drinking wine and popping pills before going live on air!
Diane, 66, was a co-anchor on ABCs Primetime Live between 1989 and 1998 and in raw video taken at some point as she was preparing to go live on air, shes seen sipping on a large glass of red wine and then popping pills she dug out of her purse.
Its unclear who shes talking about but Diane is heard saying, I said, too bad shes crazy, and then gestures as if shes drinking a glass of wine and snorting drugs.
Throughout the clip Diane, who seems to channel Princess Diana with her look, is seen fixing her hair and making sure she looks presentable for the broadcast.
This report should be bad news for government authorities who possess weapons as their children are apparently in extreme danger.....
She appears to need another session with her plastic surgeon as the last one looks like it's in need of an update.
How many laws did ABC break? Isn’t it illegal in many places to leave operational firearms unsecured and accessable to children, even if they’re unloaded?
Why don’t we use their own rules against them?
LOL! Really. You know as well as the rest of us that they are a “protected class”. Witness the asshat in possession of a “30 magazine clip thingy” in d.c. No harm, no foul right? As difi about trigger discipline. Don’t forget about the shoulder thing that goes up. ;>}
they couldnt stir up more hysteria if they could reuse....the infamous.1964 .nuclear bomb ad for lyndon blame johnson
Those kids pointed them at each other, held the barrels up to their own faces. Shocking to watch, and knowing the idiot parents were watching this happen behind glass.
It has always been said "It's the unloaded gun that kills", and YET they did it anyway. What if one of those guns had been loaded...............who would be held accountable?
Diane Sawyer and Crew..........you are truly dispicable and should be charged with CHILD ENDANGERMENT, but I suppose you have a waiver from the parents so that will pardon you actions, right?
First, the journalists conducted a little experiment to discover the obvious: kids like playing with guns.
As do goverment agents.

A little “Minority Report” action here.
After being told what to do after finding a gun, 2 of the 20 students played with the planted pistols.
Arrest them now, as it’s obvious they will be criminals in the future!
Luckily, no one put their eye out.
In the early 1970s I remember being able to take my deer rifle to school and put it in my locker.
At the end of the school day I would put on my hunting gear (mostly my same clothes I always wore except a few extras like gloves, orange hat a bigger knife instead of the pocket knife that was always with me even at school and some bullets).
I would have the bus driver drop me off about a mile from home and slowly hunt my way home.
Hell I remember my brother buying an old military 30-06 bolt action for $35.00 a few months before hunting season with the transaction taking place at school.
The bus driver saw it and when he pulled up to our house he blew the horn (that usually meant trouble when my mom would here it) and he said to my mom “Do you know that your kids have a gun?” and my mom answered “Yes I do and I gave them the money to buy it” and that was it.
Yes those were the good old days.
Hear not here....whoops
The news Media do this every few years since 1968. Gives them a chance to keep up the demonization of self defense.
Remember when the news media wanted to show how deadly the AK-47 was? They shot at some melons but could not make the melon explode!
So they shot the melons with a different gun with hollowpoint bullets designed to come apart. When showed on TV, it showed a person firing an AK, and then cut to the melon exploding.
Then there was the filming of another AK shooting demonstration in which a semi-auto AK was fired against bricks, and the bricks seemed to explode. Then they did the same with a FULL AUTO AK, and none of the bricks exploded. Therefore “proving” the legal AK was more deadly than the military version.
Years ago, there was an anti-hunting film on TV (SAY GOODBY)in which a polar bear hunt was conducted from a helicopter(very illegal!). You see them hazing the bears, a polar bear with cubs, a hunter raises his rifle, shoots, then closeups of the momma bear’s face slowly dying while the babies cower in fear.
After the broadcast, it was found the bear was shot with a tranquilizer dart gun for testing. If you look close, you can see the dart leave the muzzle of the gun.
NEVER TRUST A NEWS MEDIA DEMONSTRATION!
***we all grew up with guns...and nobody took one to school...***
When I was in school, if a kid took a gun or big knife to class you knew he was in leathercraft class. There was no panic about it.
Back in the 1950s and 60s, kids often shot themselves doing something stupid, like resting the muzzle of their .22 rifles on their boot and accidentally pulling the trigger.
There were several who shot themselves in the foot.
we all grew up with guns...and nobody took one to school...***
I meant no kid was able to just take one from the house...
Guns were not an exciting curiosity to us...they weren’t an intriguing, unknown and desirable plaything..they were everyday ...MEH...No other kid would have been impressed...
our Dad’s locked their guns up so the little kids or thieves couldn’t get them..
My Dad built himself a gun cupboard that was attached to the kitchen wall and locked..
Dad put his guns away (double barreled shot gun, rifle, 22, 303, German Luger etc) unloaded..the ammo was locked up in another place..
We all learnt to shoot with that old German Luger my uncle brought back from WWII...
We would shoot targets on the side of the old barn ...My Dad built a new barn when I was 10 which means I was younger than 10 when he taught me to shoot..We weren’t allowed to mark up the new barn.. LOL
I don’t remember anyone complaining that he taught his children to handle guns while we were still in elementary school...
Although most kids I went to school with had someone who fought in WWII, I don’t remember anyone saying they were going to shoot another kid or a teacher...
***I dont remember anyone saying they were going to shoot another kid or a teacher...***
My dad, a WWII vet, always said to NEVER say you wished so and so was dead! If they were found dead, you would be the first suspect.
Never heard of anyone shooting up a school back then. If it did happen, it was considered strictly local news.
The Dana Loesch response came in context of a rebuttal by the Blaze that fact checks the abc statistics:
Basically, abc used teen gun misuse to push up the numbers, then packaged those numbers to make it seem as if they described accidental gun injury among the younger children pictured in the report, leading to intentional (IMHO) confusion. This is not sloppy journalism. This is sophisticated propaganda designed to marginalize gun owners, to promote distrust and the kind of “turn in your neighbor” mentality so typical in other Marxist regimes.
Not journalism at all. Maybe reporterism. Like somebody said, you’re entitled to your opinion, you are NOT entitled to the facts. Good job by Dana btw.
Yep, they stuffed the numbers with “gun injury” stats from “children” as old as 20, i.e., the gang demographic. So yes, badly skewed, and never a hint they were effectively lying via misdirection. See my post #48 above for more info.
