Current government path is leading to a nightmare (Government is leading us into disaster)

This year President Barack Obama and his party will begin their campaign against “the rich” while emphasizing the “gap” in wages between those on top and those on the bottom. Their solution will be to increase the minimum wage, raise taxes on “the rich” and increase government spending.

They will exploit ignorance and envy to maintain power. Their solution will make the gap larger and create an endless recession. Unless reversed, the result is likely to be a financial collapse, wiping out savings, retirement accounts and putting almost everyone in the country into the category we now call the "working poor."

At every point of failure, they will blame various enemies: the other political party, the rich, business “elites” and conservatives will be favorite targets.

You can’t deny these effects by saying that opposition to these policies is simply politics, or that conservatives are making these warnings to get a reaction or to stir the pot.

Sorry. The current path of the federal government and the Obama administration will impoverish the nation unless it is reversed.

Two examples:

In 1969, there were 51 full-time workers for everyone receiving disability from the federal government. Currently, there are only 13 workers.

We now have more people receiving federal disability than there are citizens of Greece.

There are 48 million people currently receiving food stamps; that is a 70 percent increase since Obama took office. There are only three full-time workers for each person getting this aid. We could give food stamps to every living soul in Central America and still have 8 percent left over. Or we could feed everyone in Canada and still have enough to feed half of the total population of North Korea.

Progressives are flat-out irked that anything economic should interfere with their communal dream, but reality is not optional. The taxpayers have been extraordinarily generous, but irrespective of their goodness this cannot continue.

Suppose we took the nation and split it into two countries, with an equal distribution of wealth between the two. One would be liberal and continue current policies. The progressives could double down on all their dreams.

New York’s Gov. Andrew Cuomo and other progressives could get their wish. There would be no place for conservatives, not only in New York but in the entire new country. So much for crossing the aisle, tolerance and diversity.

The conservative country would be run by a small constitutional federal system. The government would have the authority to protect and defend its citizens and administer the “rule of law.” There would be a limited number of felonies and of regulations. The law would be administered equally, whether you were the president or a homeless person.

At the beginning, every American could choose which country he or she wanted to live in.

Within 30 years, the liberal nation would be a basket case, and it would have to build a fence. Not to keep people out but to keep people in. The progressive country would blame its failures on others, and would perhaps even threaten war.

The conservative country would be wealthier, it would have fewer poor people and the poor people that did exist would be much richer than the poor in the other country.

Almost all wealth creation, advances in science and innovations in business would be taking place in the conservative country. Even the ecology would be more pristine in the conservative half.

How sure am I of this? I have no doubt. None whatsoever.

This has already been done. It was tried in perhaps the largest human experiment in history, and the Soviet Union collapsed with a price in human misery that was staggering. It was done in Germany and Korea. It was tried in China and Taiwan. China is emerging now because of increased freedom, not the other way around.

Our country is being driven by self-serving people into a future nightmare that need not occur.

I’ll lift up your sons for putting their lives on the line and ask the Good Lord to bless them for their courage in defending the Republic. Thank them for the sacrifice they have made. No, the thing I fear most is that we are out numbered. No matter how many good ones we have, the enemy has a larger force and the dimocrats are adding to it daily. The thing that will happen in the end is that these same dimocrats who are turning the country over to the muslins will be beheaded by the same muslins they are giving the nation too.

"The good people are severely out numbered by the bad, the sad, the dumb, the crooks, the thieves, the lazies, the murderers, the communists, the socialists, the muzzies, the illegals."

I have to disagree with you there, RA. I agree with Glenn Beck that we surround them. The problem is our people, the center-right majority in this country, are lazy, unmotivated, afraid to speak out against the politically correct conventional wisdom, or have been scared into believing what they hear in the media.

Some don't believe things are as bad as they are, because they've been lulled into a Bread and Circuses coma by the entertainment media. They're not motivated because they believe "this too shall pass". Others see the constant Leftist badgering of the center-right majority, through pop culture, and are too afraid to stand up and act like the majority. Yet others believe what they hear in the Obammunist lickspittle media, and have simply given up, believing our best days are behind us.

I believe the Republic is definitely saveable, but if and only if we can wake up -- and buck up -- our side. Yes, we've gone over the cliff. Yes, the rocky ravine bottom is flying up at us quickly. But I believe there's still time enough to yank our chute and break our fall...if we can get everyone on our side to wake up and brace for impact. Maybe the crash is a foregone conclusion, but I still think there's a way for us to survive it as a Republic. Not going to be easy, though.

Thus as I said, we are out numbered. If your troops are cowards and run, then you have no useful troops. Sadly, that is what we have. I can guarantee you that a lot of people that call themselves conservatives, rant and raze even here about people getting free stuff for nothing, etc., etc., ARE IN THE LINE getting it themselves and vote to keep it. Just what the Bible says, that they act as sheep, but are really wolves in with us. People like this are useless to us. I had many a trooper over the years who just took up space, three hots and a cot, a pay check, free medical and dental until we ran his sorry butt off or his time was up and he was not allowed to reenlist because he was worthless. We have millions like that now. Our churches are full of people who call themselves Christians, but we cannot get them off their butts to work for the LORD. Always some excuse. When I look around our church it is always the same hand full of people doing all the work, all the volunteering, all the helping out, etc. The same 40-60 people doing all the work in a church of 1,100 (on the rolls, but we normally get 350-400 on Sundays). I stick with my original post.

LIke the LORD said, "What have you done for me. What have you done in My name. If you did it for them, you did it for Me." I work for my LORD because I want to. Not because He tells me that is what I should be doing. I do it because I love Him and what He has already done for my sorry, good for nothing, sinful, behind. He is going to allow me into His Heaven. I don't deserve it. But, His free gift, His gift of Grace, allows me in. There is nothing I can do to earn it. It is from Him, free. Just believe on Him and He saves you. That simple. So easy, even a Dimocrat could do it.

" If your troops are cowards and run, then you have no useful troops."

Very true, sir. But that's where we, as former NCOs/officers need to step in and keep our soldiers from retreating. We're leaders...we need to lead. Guys like you and I need to show courage and lead our faltering countrymen, not throw up our arms and join the surrender monkey chorus.

You're right -- too may of our countrymen have lost faith in God and/or America. Too many of them aren't pulling their weight. But that's where you and I, and every other former NCO or officer, need to step up and give them words of encouragement. We can do it, one FReeper at a time, one co-worker at a time, one congregation member at a time.

You and I took the same oath, part of which said "I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same". That oath has no expiration date. Step up, sir.
