The State of Obama: Not Good
Real Clear Politics ^ | Feb 2, 2014 | Jack Kelly

This was the most startling passage in the SOTU:

“Inequality has deepened. Upward mobility has stalled. The cold, hard fact is that even in the midst of recovery, too many Americans are working more than ever just to get by, let alone to get ahead. And too many still aren’t working at all.”

The president spoke no truer words all night. The percentage of Americans living in poverty is higher than it was in 1966, the year after the war on poverty began, and 6.6 percent of Americans earn incomes of half the poverty level or less, compared to 3.7 percent when the Census Bureau began keeping this statistic in 1975.

“The entire speech seemed like a cut and paste of old State of the Union speeches with a late rewrite, as if the White House figured out that ‘opportunity’; (the GOP term) polls better than ‘inequality’ (the base’s favorite),” Ms. Rubin said.

After shrinking during the presidency of George W. Bush, income inequality has increased on Mr. Obama’s watch. Only 4 percent of respondents in a Gallup poll this month think it’s the most important problem; only 13 percent in a Fox News poll think the government should do something about it. So soft pedaling the “income inequality shtick” was prudent.

This SOTU drew the smallest audience in decades.

I hope this will be reflected in the midterm elections -- there is a really good chance for Republicans, if they don't blow it.

Right. So we can have incrementally slower gubment growth without the socialist rhetoric. I can hardly wait.

The GoP-e’s attacks and war on Conservatives have the potential to exchange victory for defeat. On the other hand, if the Tea Party and Conservatives prepare and fight as hard in 2014 as will be required to win the war after the coming economic- (if-not-nuclear-) winter, Conservatives have an opportunity for a intra-party reversal over the hegemony-seeking Rinos.

Let Rinos rightly cower in fear their UN-cheered, one-gov politics will get them ejected from Congress if not an all-expense trip to the gallows.

Yeh thanks to you Barry.

Funny how the war on poverty keeps forcing more and more people into poverty. Someone should declare a truce.

When people are working harder, longer just to maybe, barely keep what they've got... That's not a recovery obama, you {expletive}. It is a "recovery" in name only, and only called that by the kool-aide drinkers and bootlickers in the MSM. The rest of us know full well there is no recovery, in fact things are getting worse.

The thing is, there is still about 40% of the country that will blindly support this as_hat. And another 15-20% that will support the Teleprompter-Of-The-United-States even if he were found with a dead-girl AND a live boy in his bed.

Rush talked about the possibility that Obummer will stay in DC after the election to watch over things. A Kibitzer-in-Chief.

These are indeed dark times. A divided country with ir-reconcilable differences. Moochers on the march. Worthless paper money.
