Jewish Activists Chase Away Anti-Semites in Paris

The Jewish National Fund held an event honoring Israel in the heart of Paris Sunday, but the real reason for the event was a desire by Israeli authorities to support French Jews in a time of trouble.

Over 15,000 people, most of them Jews, are expected to attend the two-day event – an exhibit titled “Israel Today and Tomorrow.”

The event received unprecedented security: central streets were cordoned off, and police snipers were placed on rooftops.

Ultranationalists gathered with the intent of marching on the event, but were blocked by police – both uniformed and undercover – a long distance away. The extremists managed to send a smaller group closer to the event but this group was spotted and chased away by pro-Israel activists. This clash brought the police into action, and the extremists were chased down and arrested.

This time, the Jews aren’t gonna march like sheep to the gas chambers.

“Ultra nationalists?” Is this newspeak for LePenn’s party? Or “youths” who immigrated or whose parents immigrated from certain middle eastern countries whose names cannot be mentioned?

Awesome to see - with this and the Pro Family marches in Paris it is nice to see them challenge the cultural norms of the culture of death and the pestilence of antisemitism.

Not newspeak. That’s how many French rightists self-identify. They see themselves as patriots and protectors of the national identity against foreign invasion, including Jews and Muslims. They have been anti-Semitic since as least as far back as the Dreyfus affair.

Kind of reminds me of the reports I’ve heard of the clashes years ago between the KKK and the Knights of Columbus on the Chicago west side. I guess back then the K of C had to take the part about being knights seriously.

Thanks for that information, yet one would think that Jews in France for hundreds of years, the Dreyfus being now over 100 years in the past, were not “invaders.” The Arabic presence (especially due to the Libya-French connection) is a more recent vintage. I do not believe the Jews want the Arabs kicked out of France, but I am rather certain the Muslim portion of French Arabs want the French Jews booted.

The Vichy French differentiated between Jews who had been there for generations and relative newcomers from Eastern Europe with their strange language and habits. They were happy to send them back to the East, which was a euphemism for death camps.

You have seen the film “Life and Times of Klaus Barbie, Butcher of Lyon”? In it there is a woman interviewed (in the 1980s) who was taken by the SS in Lyon (in the early 40’s), probably with the collusion/information of a neighbor/friend. Many of the non-Jewish French in the film opined that a prosecution of Barbie (in the 1980s) for crimes decades before was unjust or old news. Not inspiring.
