Don’t laugh just yet. Maybe some liberal economist gave Floyd Denver plus 36 points. If so, Floyd is rolling in the dough now.

I think 38 still has that distinction for the time being :XXXVIII. 88 will replace that (I think) ... LXXXVIII ... And any that beat that will end with 88.

Year-wise, 1988 is the longest Roman Numeral string to date (MCMLXXXVIII) ... that will be beat in 2988 with MMCMLXXXVIII.

Manning didn’t fumble it. The football was hiked over his head.

Thank you. It was a legit question. It will take an extraordinary effort on the merchandise manufacturers to fit the 2988 year onto a cap.

For the record and the first play from the line of scrimmage of the game. The Broncos center Ramirez is “awarded” the fumble and not Manning.

From the official game stats:

“(14:53) (Shotgun) 18-P.Manning Aborted. 66-M.Ramirez FUMBLES at DEN 14,...”

He could have just given it to me.

Really! And you could have shared some with me. I know we could have put it to much better use.

Max, I agree, my first thought about his losing that much money would/could, bring about the ultimate title fight with Manny Pacquiao, which would help him recoup that loss in one night, and then some.. LOL

Floyd Mayweather bets $10.4 million on the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII

That can't be painless. But Mayweather isn't Mike Tyson. He isn't under the control of any promoter and he's been smart about keeping control over his earnings, which have been titanic. As huge as $10.4 million is, odds are he can afford it. A pity he wouldn't want to give it to some worthwhile charity rather than a Vegas casino, but it's his money and his business.

If he wanted to win 10,400,000 he would have to put up the 10,400,000 plus a 1,040,000 bookie fee. If he won the bet he would win 10,400,000 and get the bookie fee back. If he lost the bet he loses the 10,400,000 plus the 1,040,000 for a loss of 11,440.000.

However if he put the money up and said that's what he wanted to bet, then he would be putting up 10,400,000 to win 9,360,000. A win gets him 9,360,000 plus getting the 1,040,000 bookie fee back. A loss means he loses 10,400,000.

Is this the Super Bowl with the most Roman numerals?

38 (XXXVIII) has VII characters (48 has six). 78 is the next with seven, then 83.

88 (LXXXVIII) has eight.

Add one for 138 and 183.

I went to bed as the first half was ending, knowing it was over already.....when I heard the final score this morning, I started wondering how much money got made that those betting Seattle would win by 35.

Actually it could still be true. Notice that Mayweather did NOT deny this report before the game. Only AFTER Denver lost did he deny it. It could be that Mayweather is embarrassed about his huge loss so he could be now pretending he never made the bet. Anyway, it is strange that he did not deny the reports BEFORE the game. The denial only came AFTER the game.

not sure what the Over/Under was.. but.. 51 with Denver on the field and only 8 points are theirs.. damn. The NFL didn’t make a lot of new friends this time.
