Kerry: 'Al-Qaeda Threat Is Real, It Is Getting Out of Hand' Daniel Halper February 3, 2014 11:11 AM
Al Qaeda is not on the run. And John Kerry, according to a report in Bloomberg, is finally admitting it.
"[T]he al-Qaeda threat is real, it is getting out of hand, Kerry told a delegation.
It's in stark contrast to President Obama's repeated claims. A day after 9/11, we are reminded that a new tower rises above the New York skyline, but al Qaeda is on the path to defeat and bin Laden is dead, Obama said in the run up to his reelection in 2012.
The Kerry comments were reported by Jeffrey Goldberg:
Kerrys Sunday briefing was meant to be private, but the Senates two most prominent Syria hawks, Republicans John McCain -- the leader of the U.S. delegation to the security conference -- and Lindsey Graham provided a readout of the meeting to three journalists who flew with them on a delegation plane back to Washington: Fred Hiatt, the editorial page editor of The Washington Post, Josh Rogin, the Daily Beast's national security reporter, and me.
According to Graham, Kerry gave the clear impression that Syria is slipping out of control. He said Kerry told the delegation that, the al-Qaeda threat is real, it is getting out of hand. The secretary, he said, raised the threat of al-Qaeda unprompted. He acknowledged that the chemical weapons (delivery) is being slow-rolled; the Russians continue to supply arms (and that) we are at a point now where we are going to have to change our strategy. He openly talked about supporting arming the rebels. He openly talked about forming a coalition against al-Qaeda because its a direct threat.
"I would not characterize what he said as a plea for a new policy, but that, in light of recent, dramatic developments, the administration is exploring possible new directions," said one Democratic House member who was in the meeting. "He wasn't arguing so much that the administration needs a new policy but that the administration is considering a range of options based on recent developments."
Someone’s not on the same page here.
No shite katsup boy....DUH
“He openly talked about supporting arming the rebels.
It is my opinion that Obama has been doing this covertly since the beginning of the fighting in Syria.
He can’t be right, mac daddy said they were on the run an only the JV’s were involved and we all know that mac daddy would not lie to the American people - oh wait his lips were moving, never mind.
No thanks at all to you and The Stain, Hanoi John.
New York just had an explosion in a manhole yesterday.
They also had one on Jan 6. I’m wondering what’s up with that. Is it terrorism? Seems no one has at all considered this.
So bring our troops home and let them kill each other.
You might consider rephrasing that...
Well shazzam? Surprise , surprise
Do you suppose 0bama will tell him to walk that back? We were told that Al-Qaeda is on the run. Obliterated or something along that line. Lost all their power. Splintered. Cannot remember the exact words used over and over.
What happened to the meme, “al-Qaeda is finished”?
Back in March 2013 or so, this was the wonderful announcement coming from the Current Occupant squatting in the White Hut. But since then, Jean-Francois Kerre` has skillfully reconstituted and managed to get them back up to full fighting force, as they are now ably demonstrating in Syria and Iraq. The Levant is aflame, and a large part of that was fueled by failing to properly control their renaissance in Libya and Egypt, or if anything, the forces friendly to al-Qaeda, namely the Muslim Brotherhood, were actively encouraged for quite some time by the Current Occupant, supported in great extent by Herself, Madame Benghazi, the Cold & Joyless, and subsequently by this same Jean-Francois Kerre` referred to above, who, as you know, served in Viet Nam.
He can’t be lying.
OReilley proclaimed his heart is in the right place.
Oh really, John, is it in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan? Get real, John, they're just doing their job. Think of it as workplace violence.
Hey Captain Obvious,
Glad your brain workouts have improved your IQ, lurch.
Now, keep it up and strive for “cretin” level, you useless gigolo.
His boss said AQ was done in long ago. Which one is lying?
Wasn’t it John effin Kerry that implied “terrorism” is something we need to get used too ? a nuisance ?
Wait till Michelle reads the news
Terrorists mean to kill.....
It's so hard to believe he would lie to us... like you I'm shocked. /s
....... Naw ..... he will maintain that he either never said those things or that his statements were horribly misrepresented by Fox News.
Kerry just happened to say this today for some reason. By tomorrow, he’ll probably be saying that he and Barry have vanquished al Qaeda. Or that we need to make a deal with them. And he won’t even suspect that there’s some kind of contradiction.
Nor will the press.
LOL- isn’t this the same POS who said terrorism was a “nuisance” when he ran for POTUS in 2004???
Kerry needs to check with Hussein every morning to see what the truth is for that day. It appears he has told the actual truth this time, and one can’t do that with Hussein making truth different every day.
Al Qaeda is on the run...............TOWARDS US!.....................
Wait a minute. I thought they were our freedom fighter friends in Syria?
" Unexpected . . .
They were on the run before they weren’t
They why has Clinton-Kerry and Obama given al Qaeda
MANPADs, and then SAMs, and then sarin?
Alexandra Kerry is doing a neat trick in that one!
Is that wascally George W. Bush back in office again, scaring us into more war and using more made-up intelligence?
What a day!
I’m now qualified to play in the NFL AND be Sec of State.
And Carville is apparently showing his appreciation!
Glad Looter-Guy made the cut.
We have seen the enemy; it is the current administration.
They will never let a crisis go to waste; even if they made it.
Thanks F’ing!!! For your supreme mastery of the obvious,
